Which Dog Is Bigger, A Pitbull Or A Rottweiler?

Expert’s answer:

Based on the search results, a Rottweiler is generally bigger than a Pit Bull. Rottweilers can reach weights of up to 130 pounds, while Pit Bulls typically don’t exceed 60 pounds. It’s important to note that individual dogs may vary in size, and there can be overlap between the sizes of these two breeds.

A pitbull or a Rottweiler—which is superior?

The best owners for Rottweilers and Pit Bulls are knowledgeable, devoted dog owners who have lots of free time to spend with their pets. The Rottweiler is a better option because of their loyalty, protectiveness, and work ethic if you’re looking for an all-around guard dog or working dog.

Pit bulls tend to be more laid-back than Rottweilers and are more interested in being loyal companions than any other job. Their need for constant human attention and intense desire to be liked characterize them.

To become their best selves, both breeds need a similar amount of socialization and training from a young age. The fact that both breeds are among those most likely to experience breed prejudice is also important to note. Some cities have passed laws outlawing entire “dangerous” breeds, typically Pit Bulls, and tenants who own these breeds frequently find their landlords forbidding them.

Whichever breed you decide on, be sure you’re willing to invest the time and energy necessary to raise them to be polite, collected adults. People make poor decisions, but the dogs are the ones who end up suffering because of unfair breed discrimination. Pit bulls and Rottweilers may not deserve to have a bad reputation, but they do deserve to live in homes that are supportive and loving.

A pitbull is the strongest breed of dog.

Here are five dog breeds that are stronger than pit bulls, starting with the rottweiler, which is by far bigger, stronger, and more agile than a pit bull. It also has a bite force that is twice as strong, coming in at about 280 pounds or 320 psi, making it stronger than pit bulls.

Which canine breed defeats the pit bull?

Because of their strength, many bully kutus live as family companion dogs. temperament, size. One of the top contenders on our list of breeds that could defeat a pit bull, their bravery and loyalty have not changed.

Which canine breed is more hostile than a Pitbull?

While a thorough discussion of this issue is outside the scope of a letter to the editor, extensive peer-reviewed research on the canine genome has refuted the notion that a dog’s outward appearance has any genetic connection to their behavior. According to peer-reviewed studies, Dachshunds, Chihuahuas, Jack Russell Terriers, Australian Cattle Dogs, American Cocker Spaniels, and Beagles are the breeds most likely to bite humans. A PubMed search on these subjects will turn up this study for those who are interested. In my 14 years of practice, I can only recall anecdotally treating a small number of aggressive pit bulls, compared to the hundreds of other breeds.

Actually, the rise in popularity of brachycephalic (flat-faced) dogs is the true breed-related issue facing our community and the country. Brachycephalic dogs have serious health problems that many pet owners are unaware of when they adopt brachycephalic dogs. These dogs’ ability to breathe normally is a birth defect, so every time they snort, which we find endearing, is actually extra tissue blocking their airway. Due to their propensity for inhaling and choking on their own vomit, this redundant tissue makes even one episode of vomiting fatal. They are more prone to spontaneous, painful, and occasionally paralyzing spinal cord damage because of their compact structure and deformed vertebrae. In situations where a bulldog with a normal skull would have survived, I have seen far too many bulldogs choke to death. Anytime they vomit, become overly excited or stressed, or become slightly overheated, their lives are in danger. These breeds must no longer be purchased and made popular.

I’ll conclude by telling you about a pit bull I once met who had been stabbed by a human. Despite this, as we treated his wounds, he tried to snuggle up in the nurses’ laps and waved his tail. He wagged his tail so hard I thought it would fall off when we put a sweater on him to help keep his wounds covered. The fact that humans have mistreated dogs is the real issue. Because we believe the most loving dog breeds are the cruelest and because we value appearance over a dog’s fundamental needs for comfort and health, we choose to demonize them. We must improve our behavior as animal stewards.

Can a Rottweiler defeat a pit bull?

When compared to a pit bull, a rottweiler is more intelligent, agile, powerful, and strong.

What breed of dog is the largest?

The size of these breeds is comparable, but Rottweilers are typically smaller. They can, however, reach the same height as Bullmastiffs and weigh a little bit more on average.

Bullmastiffs are 24-27 inches tall and weigh between 100 and 130 pounds. Weighting 80 to 132 pounds, Rottweilers range in height from 22 to 27 inches.

Both dogs have floppy ears, short muzzles, and bulky frames. But they are distinguished from one another by a few significant variations. The first is that Bullmastiffs typically have an appearance of having more muscle, especially in the chest.

Second, the skin on the back of the neck and the face of Bullmastiffs are wrinkled. A further grooming requirement for prospective Bullmastiff owners is to ensure that this skin remains healthy.

Who is able to overcome a Rottweiler?

Rottweilers are defeated by Kane Corsos. The Kane Corso has the strongest bite of any Mastiff in every physical category, coming in second to the Kangal at 700 PSI. and is therefore regarded as one of the strongest dog breeds. The Corso would definitely prevail over a Rottweiler if it came down to it.

What dog is stronger than a Pitbull?

A rottweiler is aggressive, but he can defeat a pit bull. Due to their sharp canines, rottweilers can easily bite pit bulls and will rip the flesh off of a pit bull. They are primarily kept as guard dogs. Rottweilers have more sharp canines than pit bulls.

  • As a kid, I will always remember my buddies and I were headed home. At an intersection not far from our school, we saw a Rottie and Pitbull fighting. We kept our distance and watched the fight go down. The Rottie was HUGE, the Pitbull wasn’t small, but nowhere near the Rottie’s size. It was a vicious fight, in the end the Rottie got hold of the Pitbull’s neck and killed it. The Rottie released the Pitbull from its jaws and looked up at us. We were worried he was gonna charge at us and attack. But, the Rottie turned around and walked away. Once the Rottie was out of sight, we inspected the scene. Blood everywhere and the Pitbull was definitely dead(one of my friends poked it with a stick). We knocked on a lady’s door, told her what happened and she said she would call the proper authorities. Both breeds are beautiful, strong and fearless dogs. They should not fight. NO BREEDS should.

  • I had a blue nose pit and got a rottweiler puppy and raised them together. The rottie was more aggressive towards people and the pit towards other dogs. However the rotties bite was more powerful. Although the heart of the pit just doesn’t quit. One time I was out hiking with both and we stumbled on some free range cattle. Both dogs took off after them the rottie bit into a calf on its front quarter and the pit proceeded to take on the heifer who was probably the calfs mother and keep her at bay. Eventually I got the rottie and pinned him down but no matter how long I called or whistled the pit wouldn’t give up and kept on going after the bull who was 20 times her size easy. That bitch wouldn’t quit, I thought she would die fighting the herd. Eventually I got her back after she had been rolled several times by the bull. They are bred to never give up.

  • I have a 115lbs rottweiler. He is a great dog and he loves other dogs. A pittie decided he didn’t like him at the dog park and started in. The pittie was about 80lbs was the 1st aggressor and had the tables turned on him so quickly it was ridiculous. He got picked up and he’s legs taken out from under him I keep my dog on a harness so I grabbed my dog and pulled him off of course the pittie wanted to keep going but I tried to keep myself between the 2 dogs (not a good idea but i don’t want either dog hurt people are just perusal im yelling who’s dog is this and no one is talking some guy is talking like I’m doing something wrong. So I said fuck it. I let my dog put in work he slammed this pitbull by his throat at this point the owner finally made her way from across the dog park I grab my dog she puts a leash on her dog. This guy is telling us we have to leave. I told him to shut the fuck up my dog is defending himself this guy calls animal control. Animal tells him to get over it hes in a dog park. People are bitches

  • I was fortunate to have Gentlemen Rott Hermann as my companion for over ten years. That was his birth name, we just called him Arthur. At the age of six month he weighed 40 kg or 88 lb. Then he grew into the most astonishing adult male Rotti. No wonder, his father was a 3 time Hungarian Champion, had German roots. At his peak he weighed 60 kg or 132 lb, lean as a bodybuilder, chest broader than that of a human. I (weighing about 70 kg or 154 lb) could sit on his head and he could hold me. He was a real family pet, loving, caring, not only with me but the whole family. He was well socialized and had no issues with other dogs or humans. Once we introduced a friend to him that person was free to enter our property any time. Oh, did I mention highly intelligent? But the point is: once I asked a pitbull breeder in the street if he would let Arthur play with any of his dogs. He said “No way. That dog is too serious”.

  • I had a pit that I raised from a 9 week old puppy. Both his parents where bred for fighting. I decided to buy a puppy to give him a good home and a loving family to take him away from that lifestyle. Bye the time he reached 3 yrs old I moved to a new house. And my neighbor had a massive Rottweiler next door that he kept in his backyard. Our dog was a house dog. I wasn’t worried about it because I had a huge fenced in backyard for my dog to play in. One day the Rottweiler dug a huge hole under the fence and attacked my dog 😲. Capone was hell bent on protecting me. By the time that me and my neighbor finally got Capone off of him and broke it up… the Rottweiler fell over and died from his injuries. This truly broke my heart !!! Because my neighbor loved his dog the same as I did. I’ve learned the hard way that when a pit bull goes into protection mode, he will put his life on the line to protect the ones he love.

  • A Pitbull’s only advantage would be endurance. The longer the fight went the better his chances would be. But reaching that point against a Rottweiler would be highly unlikely. I’ve been around both almost my entire life, seen several fights between them, none of them intentional, and the Rottweiler has won every fight so far.

  • I have a large male Rottweiler, I work him everyday, he’s an absolute beast on the trails, and is by far the most intelligent dog I’ve ever owned. He doesn’t gas easily and is unbelievably strong. He’s a working dog, easy to train, and would be a intruders worst nightmare. He’s never shown any aggression towards other dogs. I have no idea which of these two breeds would prevail in a skirmish, there are a lot of variables to consider. That said, its’s unlikely I’d ever bet against a fit Rottweiler, just so much horsepower. (I love both breeds!!)

  • I had the unfortunate experience of investigating many dog fights in my career. The Rotty is bigger, stronger, and has a heavier bite, and in the end the Pitt will still win the majority of the time. Shepards, kengals, it doesn’t matter, the pittbull is typically the betting favorite for a reason. The big dogs may get the initial advantage but as the minutes go by, sometimes hours, you see the tide turn. At that time the Rotty/kengal will try to escape, but he keeps coming, uses his size to get underneath, it’s really brutal.

  • I have a Rottie for a bit of security for the home, but mainly for companionship. My GSD x Husky x English Staffordshire runs circles around him and is definitely the one that plays harder. I couldn’t imagine my Rottie ever getting in to a proper fight. I think he would loose, he doesn’t seem to have any aggression at all. Maybe that will develop. He comes from a German x Serbian line, breed for security. Shhh don’t tell him that though… absolute softy, and that’s how I want him to stay.

  • Out of all the fights I’ve seen between pitbull vs rottweiler, the rottweiler always dominated the pitbull. It’s twice as large and has almost twice the bite force. However, I have seen a article of an alabai completely dominating a rottweiler. That same alabai only lasted about 30 seconds with a pitbull: The pitbull bit the alabai’s leg, and it went down immediately crying…

  • I usually agree with you however, I’ve seen fights between rottweilers & pitbulls personally and everytime the Rottweiler lost. My female potbull leaped into the neighbor’s yard after one of their rottweilers lunged at my little sister and I was worried for her as there were 2 full sized Rotts in the yard. To my astonishment she was literally picking them both apart easily, as the female ran first, she teared into the male until I called her, then she just as easily leaped back into my yard as if she was trotting. My big male Zeus, Grabbed the male by his throat one time and pulled him over the lover part of the wall. Thank God I was home to save him from Zeus. We’ve since raised the walls that separates our yards. I’m from the Caribbean and I’ve heard and seen way more stories like this and though in every situation the Rottweiler was larger and more aggressive I’ve never seen or heard a Pitbull loosing to anything other than a Pitbull. There was a neighbor a few blocks away had a very large mastiff that wasn’t aggressive towards people but always scared everyone by his size and demeanor. He always Got out and freak everyone out. One day whilst backing my car out the yard I didn’t realize that he was in front of my yard and Zues made sure that he never ventured on our street ever again. Again, thank God that I was home to save him. Your arguments are usually good but hypothetical and YOU’RE ABSOLUTELY WRONG ON THIS ONE. Pitbull -9 Rottweiler-0 by my count of actual fights

  • I’m a pit owner and my managers rotty got into our front yard. Unfortunately, my dog (blue) protected us from his rotty a Blue was able to hold his own locked on neck until we were able to find a way for Blue to unlock jaw. Blue was considered pretty small for a male pit but still managed to keep us safe. Thankfully Both dogs survived but pits are a little different

  • I love Rottweilers and I agree about their size, strength and intelligence and yes they can take down a pitbull. My Rottweilers were raised alongside my children and never offered any aggression to them so I take exception to your description of their gentleness with children and that they are kept in pens or kept on chains. My dogs lived in the house with us and romped in our backyard with our boys.

  • When it comes to strength, the American Pitbull is actually stronger. I know that will be hard to believe for some given the size difference, but people can look at strength sports like weight pulling and see which breed performs better and can be seen doing more impressive feats. For example, in weight pulling, the American Pitbull breed is much more favored/popular and can be seen pulling more weight than rotts. There is a article of an American Pitbull pulling 19,000 pounds called Pitbull pulling 9000 kg.MPG\r On top of that, American Pitbulls are often used for taking on, battling, and controlling large animals like cattle and wild boar, while rotts are not commonly seen as good catch dogs.

  • Totally agree!! My brother just had one of his dogs pass away recently. The dog was an American Bulldog. His other dog is a Short Hair Pointer with a mix of something else. That Short Hair Pointer mix hurt the Bull Dog much worse when they would get into it. They would fight over food or treats at times. The Bull Dog bites and hangs on. The Short Hair Mix would bite multiple times over and over using those front teeth to make larger wounds. Like a wolf goes for the face, so does the mix. Both dogs got along well together. Just had to feed them in different rooms. A dog that bites and hangs on will lose hands down any time against a dog that bites multiple times (Of roughly same size). A true closer ancestor to the wolf.

  • I don’t know about one against the other, but I know if they team up, nothing can beat them. A friend of mine several years ago got a Pit(Shadow,60lbs male) two weeks after I got my Rottie (Raven,100lds female). They were exactly 2 weeks apart in age. Raven and Shadow grew up together. Best friends. Well, one night we decided to take them for a run in this huge field behind our subdivision. So Raven and Shadow are off lead and frolicking. Suddenly, we hear the sounds of a huge fight between K-9’s. We rush to the direction of the sounds. When we get there, we find 5 dead coyotes, tracks leading away from the fight, including blood. So it’s more than 5 coyotes involved. We take the dogs home, check them over thoroughly. We can’t find anything. We still called our Vet the next day to make an appointment. Upon explaining, the Vet said no, bring them NOW! The Vet checked both Shadow and Raven up and down. Couldn’t find any thing either. At least 7 on 2, not a single mark.

  • I had a 110lb Rottie who was like a cat. Stayed in the house and rarely barked. A true gentle giant. Loved that dog. However, you absolutely did not want to see him go into Cujo mode. Absolutely terrifying. His bark when mad would scare your soul. I would not want to be a burglar or anyone doing some wrong and have a Rott attack. I’d think a game pitbull would probably take a Rott, but I’ve never really seen Rotties trained for pit fighting. Different breeds for different purposes. A pit is like fly weight MMA fighter where a Rottie is like a Jocko Willinick

  • Rotties always look so adorable, you just want to hug them, they have the cutest faces, with that bit of tonged that sticks out, no matter how big or old they become they never loose that puppy look, or puppy sense of adventure. People used to think me crazy because no matter how old mine got I always referred to her as “daddies little puppy”

  • I had a pit bull in during my high school years until we had to put him down because of a tumor. He was abused and used for fighting. When he first came in my yard, he popped my basketball and claimed it as his. The whole time we had Beauregard or Beau, he NEVER showed his teeth once! Even when my father was very sick, he stayed by his side the whole time. If you show your dog love, the will stay loyal until the end. Train and treat your dog like your child!!!

  • i had a 110 lb. male rottweiler my buddy had an 87. lb. male american pit bull. they use to play together all the time. my rottie was dominant. the pit would submit to him every time. i had another buddy who had my rottie’s brother. my rottie was the alpha. they were about the same size. my buddies pit didnt like my other buddies rottie. they couldn’t be left alone together.

  • I have had three pitbulls, never a rotti. I have been around a few rottis however. The big huge rotti males are terrifying. they are naturally grumpy and when they growl and get close to you, you can feel the power. In a fight, if its one of those big huge male rottis, it will win for sure. Not many dogs could mess with one of those.

  • I can only speak on what I saw, and what I saw was a Rottweiler straight up MURDER a pitbull a few years ago in my hometown. I believe the pit was younger, male, had way more speed than the rottie, and no doubt had more endurance. The pit was the aggressor, and it got a few good bites in. The rottie, also a male, tried to avoid the confrontation, but something snapped and the rottie became the scariest dog I’ve ever seen. It was like you could literally see the pinpoints of hellfire in its eyes. The rottie grabbed the pit by the neck and bit so hard we immediately saw blood start hitting the ground. Like me, some people in the neighborhood seen what was happening, and I guess we were all hoping one would just run away, but neither dog did. What I saw I’ll never forget. I’ve never seen anything bite with the ferocity of that rottie. Just unbelievable raw power. After numerous buckets of water, beating on the rottie’s back and head with sticks, and several men trying to separate the dogs, the rottie finally let go and the pit lay there motionless. It eventually stopped breathing. It was a horrific sight. The pit started it and the rottie finished it. It’s bone-crushing bite power was too much. The pitbull owner sued the rottie owner, but numerous people, myself included, testified in civil court that the pit was the aggressor and the rottie tried to avoid the fight. The case was decided by a judge in the rottie owners favor…….Of course, each dog is different, and it was a tragic outcome that maybe could have been avoided with better owners on both sides.

  • I have had rotties every since the 1980s and they were some of the best dogs that I had ever seen or been involved with I have had many breeds of dogs but the rotties have been my favorites. I never kept my rotties penned up up or chained I had trained them and socialized them with people and other animals and they did very well with people and some of those people even being small children an they always did very well. I never owned pitbulls but I have had many friends and family members who have had them and if raised and treated properly were every bit the same as a rottie in being loveable dogs toward people. Also got along with other animals. Both breeds have gotten bad reputation because of the people who have owned them the breeds themselfs are both very good breeds. But please NEVER EVER FOR ANY REASON ALLOW THESE OR ANY OTHER BREEDS TO EVER FIGHT.

  • German shepherds sacrificed strength for agility and speed. Pitbull sacrificed agility for strength (but the Pitbull known as ace was an exception as he was my dream Pitbull) and rott is the perfect one for me as they are loyal as hek they are strong and protective can be easily trained has enough speed and agility for my liking

  • I would definitely have to agree with this…. I’ve been around both breeds but I’ve never owned them…. Both can be sweet and both can be aggressive it’s just like humans it depends on the personality…. But I’ve literally seen Rottweilers trained to pick up car tires and throw them around….. I think if you just took your run-of-the-mill pitbull versus your run-of-the-mill Rottweiler the Rottweilers going to win…. And hypothetically if both were trained in fighting I would take my chances with the Rottweiler because they’re bigger they’re stronger they have a greater bite force their teeth are sharper their skin is thicker and they are naturally aggressive and more intelligent….. So I would definitely agree with his assessment but here’s the thing with this happen in every case no…. But I would say the majority of the time Rott would hypothetically win.

  • I disagree you didn’t mention endurance I’ve seen them fight . both in they’re prime my neighbors were gone out of town somehow they’re two dogs had a go at it . With no one to break them up the rottweiler was handling the pit like a toy until he got tired and stopped fighting, that pit tore him to pieces . We called the police and the police called a fire truck and sprayed the pit with the fire hose …the rottweiler could hardly breathe and almost died . I was a kid back then and I’m still traumatized till this day. I hate dog fighting

  • my sis had a pitty. Nemo was his name. at first, the dog had seperation anxiety syndrome. when she was at work one day, he almost ate one of the doors in the house. it was shredded when she returned home. later on in years, it showed aggression and power when it attacked my mother’s pomeranian when my sister was dog-sitting it. The pom did not survive. It was truly mangled. 😥💔🙏🐕 He was not overly aggressive when it came to other dogs, though. My sis adopted a german shepherd a few years later. They got along great! He became more docile as he got older. He also suffered from hip dysplasia. When people would drop by her house, the pitty would grab the first babydoll it saw that belonged to my niece, and it would wag it’s tail 100mph while greeting you with it. One day in about 2004, or 2005, it was Easter morning. Her live-in boyfriend was playing with Nemo, and he just died! Probably a heart attack. The family was grief-stricken, as you can imagine. Easter is a happy day, normally. It wasn’t that day. RIP Nemo.

  • Was in the Caymans one time and was walking through a sketchy neighborhood on the rural side of the island, as it was my first time there and didn’t know any better. Fortunately it was in the daytime. As I was walking down the street I looked to my left, and walking super silently as if stalking me was this MASSIVE Rott, and it’s chain and neck harness were both thick spiked metal. Just at the sight of that thing I’ve never been so scared in my life. Just an absolute monster, and thank goodness it was heavily chained. Would estimate it was 150 lbs., at least 130-140……All muscle…..Anyway, a pit might beat some Rotts, but I can’t imagine a pit beating a Rott like that one. Just too massive and strong.

  • My daughter rescued a Handicapped part Golden Retriever & Yellow Lab, he was in training to be a Seeing Eye Dog He was attacked by a Rottweiler & broke his shoulder. That was the end of Seeing Eye training, he received surgery for the shoulder. My daughter named him Hoppi, he is the sweetest, smarted dog, he lives in a home where 4 other small and is very gentle with them when they play, I just adore him.😊

  • my rotty is a babydoll, highly family oriented and full of love for his pack. but dont try to come in to our house uninvited. his power is phenomenal and he is always making the guard rounds checking everything. but to add to his power and intelligence he is a german shepard mix which is a great combination of intelligence, power and speed. just a great combination.

  • We adopted a sister set of pitbull/katahula rescue puppies. One looks just like the “RCA dog”, is lovable, a big 75lb, solid muscle mush, kissy face and when she wakes up, her tail wags every waking moment. The other is a fast running, energetic, fun to play with and loves attention. They are the most loyal, loving, protective dogs we’ve ever owned. It’s a damm shame how the pitbull got such a bad reputation. If you’re bit by a dog it’s labeled as “A dog bite”. However, if you’re bit by a pitbull, it’s labeled “A pitbull attack”.

  • As an asian who took care of dogs such as rottweiler, pitbull, and great dane because my dad loves dogs but wants someone else to take care of them, I agree that amongst this heavy weight dogs that rottweiler is the most vicious, great dane might be bigger but they are gentle and pitbull might look muscular because they have less fur but they are family dogs, but rottweiler is different they might not seem muscular because if their thicker fur but they are very aggresive, only a well trained dog trainer can take care of them, they could be a family dog but they are over protective, our rottweiler tried to kill everyone even an infant who got close to us so we kept him in chains until he got old and died

  • Great article ! A lot of good information but not entirely correct. I’ve been a dog man for over 20yrs now. I have both ADBA & UKC American Pitbulls terriers. Pitbulls were produced by breeding the now extinct white terrier to the English bulldog & was first done here in America not the UK. When it comes to who would when in a fight, Pitbulls are DEADGAME Rottweilers are not. A game bred APBT, 55lbs would be able to fight for hour’s, the Rottweiler will gas out & quit after 10 minuets of a real dog fight. I can see it now, the pit would hit the Rott right on the muzzle & would just hang on until the Rott gets tired, at that point it’s all bad for the Rott. The bigger the dog, the faster it gets tired. 🤷‍♂️

  • I starred down a rottweiler years ago in my back yard. This took Longer then one hour and seemed like many. I was stuck in a situation where I couldn’t back away or show fear. I could sense the dog’s intentions, this was a tense standoff. I wanted to be in the house or closer to the house. My eyes had to stay locked on the dog, If I wavered or lost concentration even a tiny bit, I knew I was dead. The dog I think was as afraid of me. Otherwise he would have attacked.

  • I’ve had pit bulls and Rottweilers at the same time they are both good dogs but in a fight the Rottweiler has the advantage they are strong heavy and they know it pit bulls only advantage is stamina agility and a high pain tolerance if the Rottweiler grabs the pit bulls it’s over as I said they are strong and will attack just about anything very dominant as well

  • The original bloodline breed for the APBT to come to America from the UK was the Staffordshire Terrier and that was bred with the now extinct White Terrier to make the APBT that we have today. The UKC was created specifically for the APBT to have a kennel club because the AKC didn’t want their name associated with the Pitbull name and wrongful bad reputation.

  • I hated the thought of either of these breeds fighting. I love them both and if given the opportunity I would adopt either. I love the pittbull more though because I like dogs that want me to love them and give them all the affection. I’m also the kind of person if wild animals would never attack me I’d pet them all cause I love animals.

  • I rescued my dog when he was 10 months old. The vet said he was a type of American Bulldog. 9 years later when I had to put him to rest. I took a sample of his saliva and had a DNA test. 50% Rottweiler and 50% Staffordshire Bull Terrier. He looked more like a Rottie at 110 lbs. He never started a fight, but had been attacked. He was fit from being a ranch dog and very active. A Husky attacked him one time. In 10 seconds he had it by the throat. Four other times it was Australian Shepard’s. They had no chance. He hated Coyotes and had no chance of catching one. Twice the timing was right and he ambushed them. He snapped their necks easily. He loved people, especially children. Very affectionate. He was my greatest friend. If you were to lock your spouse and your dog in the trunk of a car overnight. The next day you pop it open. Who would be pleased to see you?😊

  • I owned a rottweiler awesome dogs… i have seen my rottie take down a pittie in a blink of an eye it attacked my rottie the pittie went for my dogs throte its reflex was so fast he evaded the attack grabbed the pittie by the throte and pinned him down …he could have killed it with one bite but didnt the inmens power!!! of a taybo that day,the pittie never did look at taybo again😂thankfully ❣❣❣

  • My own experience.. it depends on the dog. When I was a kid I was walking my Carver blue pit bull a couple blocks from my house when these two huge Rottweilers came out of nowhere and tried to bite me and my dog. One of the dog’s barely missed me and in a panic so I wouldn’t get bit I let my dog off her leash. And I don’t know if it was because she was defending herself or protecting me but I saw a pit bull fight off two grown “huge” Rottweilers and these dog’s must have weight a little over 100pounds each with one being almost double the size of the other. They were the biggest Rottweilers I ever seen and were definitely scary. I used to ride my bike alot and got chased by dogs alot especially Rottweilers. These were the biggest I ever seen Rottweiler wise. And I know big dog’s because I been in the company of some Great Danes on a ranch.😂😂😂💯✌️

  • Guess it all depends on the size of the fight in the dog. I am head over heals in love wiht my son’s Anatolian Shepherd. A true powerhouse, a giant, with jaws and a bite force 3 times stronger than a pit, he is also a big, gentle wuss. At the dog park, he lets other dogs boss him around. I am told by experts that the only time one will ever see the “other side” of his nature comes if someone or something threatens his “flock”, then God help the intruder. He will take down a wolf.

  • Rapier versus battle axe! One is refined and honed to a razors edge where the other is a tool with multiple uses. I really think it would depend on the dog’s motivation. If either one was in the mentality of their owners defense then my money would be on the dog defending it’s owner because any dog will pay down their lives for their owners but an aggressor would easily turn tail and run it forced to press the issue. No clear winner except the dog’s that are protected by their owners.

  • All this pit owners seem upset, I urge you to take a bite with a bite sleeve from each. When you come to the rot put two on. Try to stay standing for as long as you can. The rot pinch is intense match that with the strength of their neck and their power to pull, good luck. The only advantage a pit has is agility.

  • I think also the initial spark for the fight matters. If the pitbull attacked and the rottweiler defends, maybe the pitbull will win. But if the Rottweiler is too defend a member of the pack (owner) the killer in the rottweiler will come into play and will, I believe defeat the pitbull. But it’ll be very close

  • My dog who’s a Rottweiler x Retriever was just attacked by a pitbull that looked like it was on steroids and where I’m from pitbulls must be muzzled and leashed (which he was not) And my rottie came out with a stitches for deep cut on his arm and nothing else the owner of the other dog said their dog was “injured too” but when we asked what was wrong they changed the subject It was traumatizing seeing as I’m a teenager and my dogs blood was dripping from the bullies mouth

  • My uncle’s Rottie ( R.I.P. Fidel ) once kicked a Pitbull’s ass in the park. It would have killed it if it wasn’t for my uncle. I will never forget when we first brought him home as a puppy and the 8 year old me asked him: ” Will you protect us from the bad guys once you’re all grown up “? And he actually nodded yes! I was SO happy that day!!!

  • I have seen the two types fight each other multiple times my friends have the dogs an when get loose they go looking for each other to maintain domemance but honestly usually it depends the pit gos an locks down on the throat while rot tries to knock out down an roll him over it just depends who gets the first move but both types are very very badass

  • My Rottweiler was 5 at the time my we were all inside eating while he was playing on his 4 wheeler. I heard a couple scratches up the fence my Rottie was out of the door instantly the Pitt jumped a 6 ft fence and was after my little cousin. I’ve never seen that dog move that fast in my life. Let’s just say the rottie won he had a few wounds but 125lbs to 70 it was over. I love Pitts their amazing dogs…. but if it comes to my family Rottweiler and dogo all day over pitt.

  • I personally know of a story where a rottweiler puppy was outside in it’s yard, and tried playing with a pitbull that had escaped it’s owner and had wondered in. The pitbull asserted it’s dominance and attacked the rottweiler puppy, severely harming it, before the owners separated the dogs. About a year later, that same pitbull escapes it’s owner again, and heads over to attack the now adult rottweiler in its own backyard again. This time, and before the owners can separate the dogs, the rottweiler kills the pitbull. The rottweiler owner recalled being intimidated by a look of complete rage on the rottweiler when he attempted to intercede.

  • I’ve seen a lot of dog fight in the Virgin Islands as a kid. I’ve seen grown men use sticks to pry Pitbull jaws open when they old on to another dog. They would throw water on them beat them, choke them sometimes and it just seems like they got more enraged. Those dogs have no sense when they get irritated. I have been chased by a pit bull on a bike for almost a quarter mile, I was giving it everything I got. If I was going up hill I think I would be dead. Till this day I cross the street when I see people walking those dogs. I owed a Pitbull and it tried to bite me when I went to go feed it, maybe I took too long that day. I just don’t trust them.

  • I call b.s. respectfully lol. I’ve had both dogs and the rotti has more power but definitely not more agility. The teeth may be sharper but the pits bite force makes up for that. It’s a pretty even battle. Just based on. The fact a pit never ever gives up on a mission, gotta give the slight edge to the pit. Lol

  • Ask a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu fighter which dog represents their attitude to fighting? Rocky or Pit? Pits go on and on even in bad positions. Size just means a bigger target to go for. It’s all about getting to dominant position and finishing. The Pit is used to fighting other dogs, the Rocky is a human deterrent. My older brother had two and a Doberman. Once he let them off the lead and told them “Sick him,” and pointed at me (the bastard). I had to jump on a the bonnet of a van then pull myself onto the roof to escape them. I might not have been so lucky if he had a Pit.

  • Depends on the dogs. You can argue Rotts would come out on top, & you could argue Pits would come out on top But the deciding factor really comes down to the dogs, how old, how big, etc … Bloodlines matter imo, I actually have a Rott a German Rott, Big boyyyy … I’d put my money on him against a Pit any day, American Rotts are nice, but they just aren’t as bulky, aren’t as tall, aren’t as heavy etc … Same goes for Pits, bloodlines matter Camelot Pits are different from an Old Family red for example …. Both are pits but just have different characteristics Camelot’s are more heavy, bulky while a old family red are more sleeker, nothing but muscle as if they have no fat whatsoever Both breeds are beautiful animals and should b respected

  • I’ve seen a 35lb game bred Pitbull destroy a 110lb Rottweiler in less than a minute. The Rottweiler attacked the Pit and was on top of him. The Pit locked onto the shoulder of the Rottweiler from the bottom and started shaking him out. That Rottweiler was screaming trying to get away from him. The own of the Rottweiler learned to keep his dog on a leash that day

  • Oh, my neighbors pit bull would strongly disagree with the conclusion of this article. That pit bull is strong as a lion. She routinely manages to pull both my neighbor and me, several feet. I swear, she has the strength of Hercules sometimes. And yes, she is very aggressive with every other dog in the neighborhood.

  • Depends on the Dog, I’d say a game bred, tried and tested Pit Bull beats your average Rottweiler, a Rottweiler trained for protection beats your average pet pit bull with no game experience, two game bred both breeds head to head it would depend on the dog But if I had to put money behind it Pit Bull, two average pets of both breeds I’d say Rottie.

  • Pitbulls are tougher but in my opinion they are too friendly towards other people and won’t make good for protecting against home intruders, I’ve seen too many articles of a home invaders on security cameras steeling stuff while a pitbull just watches him. Rottweilers are just better at sensing danger in humans.

  • I saw a big rotti and red nose pitt get into a fight in the dog park. No one could break it up. The rotti looked to be winning but all of a sudden the pitt had his front arm and wouldn’t release. The leg of the rotti was hanging from the skin and at that point the rotti was done. Some person somehow shoves a ball launcher in the Pitts mouth and he released. The pitt still was out of its mind wanting to get back to kill the bigger rotti. These dogs are extremely dangerous to other dogs.

  • As someone who use to see these 2 dogs fight in the stupid place I grew up. The Rottweiler usually wins and usually by forcing the Pitt down and overpowering it with size. People in the comments taking about all the speed difference but when they are head to head fighting their is barely a speed difference since the don’t fight in like a big ass boxing ring they fight in close spaces a few feet long and wide.

  • They gentlemen owns a pitbull and one day he came back from work and saw his dog full of cuts and all bloody. He took him to the veterinarian got stitches they asked what happened and he said he didn’t know just found him like that. When he went home he followed the trail of blood that lead to a hill and when he got to the top of the hill he found 9 dead coyotes torn apart.

  • I have trained both breeds. The rottie has a much bigger psi on their bite. When it comes to stamina I gotta take the pitbull. Unless your are experienced with dogs I would never recommend someone get one from the pound. Pitbulls can have game bloodlines which might not be apparent right away. They can turn on like a switch and can easily kill someone. These breeds are not for a first time dog owner.

  • Rottweilers have a larger bite, more heavier. Pitbulls got the Lockjaw but the Rottweiler stands taller so again difficult for the Pitbull. The one thing that the Pitbull really has is its speed and agility.. In the end I would say the Rottweiler has a better chance to beat a Pitbull due to how dogs fight.. If the Pitbull was to fight in a different way then things would be different. I have the Rottweiler winning. A Canecorso vs Rottweiler fight is a different story.

  • We had 185 lb rott! All muscle and I tell you this. There is no pit that would stand a chance against our dog. Rotts have the most jaw power of all dogs. You add a dog in shape to that and heavy as well and its gonna be lights out! My friends have some big pits as well and they will tell you the same!

  • Most of this is true, I had both breeds a few ago and they did fight on rare occasions mostly around feeding time as the Rotty was aggressive with food but i quckly broke them up…only one time things escalated badly and I struggled to break them apart and while dog fighting is a cruel and disgusting thing my money would go on the Pitbull without hesitation.

  • Pitbulls. Hands down. No contest. I had a Pitbull, named Dano. At that time, we lived next door to a family that had a Rottweiler. The Rottweiler acted like he wanted that smoke- So, one day; while I was at work- Dano dug a hole between the fences (I was working a double, that day- So, he had time). Needless to say, they got into it and Dano destroyed him!!! We moved after that. This article is CAP. A PROPERLY trained pitbull would ETHER a Rottweiler… Having a PROPERLY trained pitbull is ALMOST like having a gun.💯

  • I think it really depends on the size of the Pitbull ! If you have a 40_60 lbs Pitbull and you put it against a 120lb Rottweiler yes the Rott is mostly likely to over power it but Getting a 70-80 lbs Pitbull I think the Pitbull will take almost any Rottweiler More agile and athletic and game! Just my opinion!

  • My cousin was walking his very large male Rottweiler one day by the fair grounds, there was a county fair going on at the time. There were some carnival workers sitting around on a lunch break or something. Well they have a pitbull chained up going nuts, well the guy gets up and unhooks his dog and sics him on my cousin’s dog. Long story short within a few seconds my cousins dog had that pitbulls head in his mouth pinned right to the ground.

  • I appreciate the work and effort this guy puts into his articles. That being said I’m unsure where he got his information for this article I’m my times around dogs, and when dogs have fought, never even 1 time has a rottweiler survived more than a few seconds with a game bred staff/pit. And believe me I have seen this happen a few times. The pit shreds the rottweiler like a chew toy every time

  • I grew up were dog fighting was a normal thing and when a trained Rotty for fighting went against a pit the Rotty would over power the pit 9/10 times. A non fighting large Rotty would loose 50/50 but it takes a monster champion pit to defeat a larger Rotty. Talking fullblood breeds grown for fighting

  • I’ve raised and owned both breeds and know from experience that due to it’s nature, a pitbull is in his natural element when engaged in battle. To compare a pitbull to a rottweiler in battle is sort of like comparing Spartan to a Viking. The Spartan will almost always when the battle due to his special breeding and love for the competition. He is bred and built for combat. You can’t compare a wrestler to an mma fighter. This is what he does best. Maybe in the most rare of cases the rottie will be victorious.

  • AS MUCH AS I LOVE ROTTWEILERS. I BROUGHT A YEAR OLD ROTTWEILER HOME SO MY PIT HAD A FRIEND TO PLAY WITH. AND THEY SEEM TO GET ALONG FOR 3 DAY IN THE MORNING OF THE 4TH DAY THE ROTTWEILER WAS DEAD. ALSO MY BLUE PIT IS REALLY SMALL AND ALSO A YEAR. ACTUALLY HE TURN A YEAR THAT SAME DAY HE KILLED HIM. SO I GUESS DEPENDS ON THE DOG IS WHOS GONNA WIN. ON PAPER THE ROTTWEILER MIGHT BE BETTER BUT ON ACTION A THINK THE PIT TAKES IT. IVE SEEN IT TRUST ME.

  • Nice Commentry. Banteng vs Spanish bull Malayan gaur vs cape Buffalo Cape Buffalo vs water Buffalo German Shepherd vs indian natural stray dog

  • 15 to 20 years ago I seen myself a pitbull fight two Rottweilers almost killed one and the other ran away so I believe it’s more the pitbull could win cause I seen it myself and I seen pitbull pulling thousands of lbs in weight pulling contest and jumping 15 ft walls I think there is some stuff you need to see but love the articles none the less

  • I love the article but in all honesty the Rottweiler would lose in a fight. I have experience with both breeds the Rott is bigger and slightly stronger but his stamina is low. Game bread Pit Bulls can take a bite and fight for more than a hour. If The Rott can’t kill the Pit in 15 mins or less its over for him. Wrestling Rottweiler fight to the death Pit Bull especially if its a 60 or more pound Pit Bull.

  • Pit Bull is a breed dedicated to dog fights that has been developed for decades. Pit ball has Strong and uncompromising character. He will never let go even in the face of a great and powerful enemy. With all due respect to Rottweiler and there is really a lot of respect. His chances of winning the “death” battle are extremely nil.

  • 😂😂😂 this was pure comedy. Only way a rottweiler would beat a pit bull is if the pit bull wasn’t a pitbull at all but instead an American bully. Even then the rott would have hell on its hands. A true game bred pitbull would dismantle a rottweiler. The rott may be stronger, but the game bred pitbull won’t quit. Rotts aren’t known for endurance, so they tend to quit fairly quicker than a pit bull.

  • NO WAY! A Pitbull has a way better Killer Instinct in a Rottweiler. I have seen Pitbulls fight before and they go for the neck. That’s why in illegal dog-fighting everyone will raise a Pitbull to fight. Why didn’t he speak about jaw strength in killer instinct? Those make for great weapons in a 1v1 dog fight.

  • I love your articles. This one was absolutely atrocious. You need to research the Swinford Bandogge. It goes into great depth about the pitbull and while dog fighting is mostly illegal… numerous attempts to find a Rottweiler that could take a pitbull were performed, and never happened. The meanest, toughest Rottweiler they could find (back in the 70’s) came from Puerto Rico. It was used for dog fighting, and even it fell to the most basic of pit bulls (around 50 lbs. vs 100+). The problem with this article is there is verifiable evidence that Rottweiler’s stand no chance against pitbulls (not to be confused with these designer breed pitbulls which you used in this article that largely breed out the terrier genes for more mastiff and other large breed dogs).

  • See this is the problem with today’s world… this guy had to create a unique message b4 this article. Kuz ppl are idiots with double standards.. its ok to match up beautiful wild animals. But not ok to match up dogs when all of these articles are supposed to be hypothetical with alot of these animals never meeting in the wild anyway… smh the world crazy af lol

  • I’d bet my money on a game breed pit bull any day of the year. Pits are much more resistant to pain, very motivated to keep fighting no matter how badly it’s hurt. The pitbull is breed to fight. And there is no question as to their superior advantage in the fighting pit, if the dog is bread for that purpose. Today’s modern pit bull is not a game bread dog,due to thousands of back yard breeders.

  • A Rottie going for the kill will win. RWs are damn near twice the size, more agile, and more intelligent. A Pittbull is known for vicious attacks on humans, and smaller canines. The size of the Pit does matter of course but I’m going off of statistics and facts and not “what if’s” and no I’m not being biased. I love PBs

  • I’ve bred, raised, shown and hunted with the American pitbull terrier for almost 20 years. A pitbull will win easily hands down. Pitbulls have been selectively bred for hundreds of years for one trait, gameness. Pitbulls are bred for combat sport. Rottweilers were bred for hoarding. Cant really measure a dogs bite force. I’ll tell you what an old time dogman told me. A dog bites hard because they want to bite hard.

  • Rottweiler wins, it’s much bigger and more robust and surprisingly it has a stronger bite force. But if it was a put bull with its owner and the Rottweiler attacked the pit and the human helped I would say pit bull. This is my fight scenario with a average sized pit bull and an average Rottweiler at a park. A put bull walked over to a Rottweiler and for some reason bites the Rottweiler and attacks it, the pit bull knocks the Rottweiler down, the Rottweiler uses its bigger size to roll the pit bull over in its back and bites the neck of the pit bull ending its life. This is another scenario with a pit bull and a human. A Rottweiler and its owner are taking a walk when an aggressive Rottweiler with no owner runs at them, the Rottweiler jumps on the pit bull attacking it ferociously, the owner steps in and tries to kick the Rottweiler away but the Rottweiler gets on its hind legs and pushes the guy over, the pit bull gets up and jumps on the Rottweiler but the Rottweiler bites the pit bulls race but the owner grabs the Rottweiler and the pit bull bites and scratches it until the Rottweilers owner can and pulled his dog away.

  • man, pitbull is a killing machine I saw a lot of pitbull fighting with other dogs like rottweiler, German shepherd or Doberman… in all the fights the pitbull wasn’t just fighting or trying to beat the other dog….the pitbull was killing If you train the pitbull to be a fighter it is gonna be a monster not a dog

  • The Rottweiler is not likely going to beat any pit bull unless that pit has no wind. And or if it is a yard pit which means the pit is mostly about playing and has no fighting experience. Otherwise the Rottweiler will punish the pit bull until the Rottweiler runs out of wind then it’s the pit bull show. Fight over! How did this guy not mention the pit bulls high pain threshold. The pit is going to outlast the Rottweiler

  • The rottweiler is about 20lbs bigger than most large pitbulls… that’s where it’s advantages end. I used to have a pitpull when I was little and he was the sweetest dog you could ever meet, until one of our neighbors 3 rottweilers decided to get loose and run around tearing up our property. My pitbull was never mistreated or used for dog fighting, but if you’ve ever seen a large pitbull fight another dog you know why they are the go-to fighting dog. My boy used to fuck up rottweilers on the daily. Eventually their dogs just avoided our property altogether when they would get loose, and you’re talking about 110lb rottweilers who were scared of my 70lb house dog who was scared of lighting and the Avon lady… Pitbulls are a whole different type of animal when they go into fight mode. Believe that.

  • I totally DISAGREE with this assessment. As a trainer/breeder of both dogs in my time, I’ve never had or seen a Rottweiler beat a pure bred APBT. In this article you showed a good bit of blue staffies. Those are not APBT. And a lot of ppl get those breeds confused with real Pit Bulls.. The main reason the Pit will come out on top of stamina and drive. I’ve seen rotts give out of steam quickly compared to Pits. Pound for pound the APBT strength is unmatched. I love both breeds.. But there’s nothing on earth like a pure bred APBT. You said that Rottweilers are more intelligent than Pits, in certain capacities yes, but in that box, not a chance.. Matter of fact, the APBT if just as intelligent as ANY OTHER BREED in the world at any capacity and it’s been proven.. Rottweilers are a working breed. APBT are a sporting breed. That is all. Enjoy your content BTW.
