What Collie Weed Really Means

Expert’s answer:

Collie Weed is a slang term that is commonly used to refer to marijuana or cannabis. The term originated from the Jamaican Patois word “collie,” which means a breed of dog, specifically the Border Collie. The term “collie” was used to describe the marijuana plant because of the resemblance of the plant’s leaves to the fur of a collie dog. Over time, the term “collie” evolved to “collie weed” and became a popular slang term for marijuana, particularly in Jamaican and Rastafarian culture. It is important to note that “collie weed” is just one of many slang terms used to refer to marijuana, and its usage may vary depending on the region and context.

What else do you call a blunt of marijuana?

The names “dust,” “wets,” “tical,” “wicky sticks,” and “happy sticks” are all used to describe blunts made of marijuana and dipped in PCP. Primos, woolies, and woo-woos are common names for blunts made from a mix of crack/cocaine and marijuana.

Why is it called a collie?

The Scots word for “coal” may be the name’s exact ancestor, although its exact origin is unknown. As an alternative, it might derive from the word coolly, which is related and refers to the Scottish Black-faced Mountain Sheep. The term “collie” typically refers to Scottish-bred dogs that have become widespread throughout the world and are also known as sheepdogs or shepherd dogs in other locales..

Collies are typically light- to medium-boned, medium-sized dogs weighing between 22 and 32 kg (48 and 70 lb). People who herd cattle are typically stockier. The tail can be smooth, feathered, or bushy, and the fur can be short or long. There were a few naturally bob-tailed dogs around in the 1800s. The tail can be carried high without crossing the back, or low with an upward swirl. Each breed’s coloration can vary, but the most common base colors are typically black, black-and-tan, red, red-and-tan, and white with a colored head and no other body coloration like sable, black-and-tan, blue merle, or sable merle sable. They frequently have white in addition to the main color, typically under the stomach and chest, over the shoulders, and on some of the face and legs. However, occasionally, only the head is colored, or white may be absent (unusual) or restricted to the chest and toes (as in the Australian Kelpie). Merle coloration is a possibility over any of the other color combinations, even in landrace varieties. The most common patterns are tricolour (black, tan, and white), black and white, and sable.

Collies range from “average” to very biddable in terms of trainability. Other collie breeds do well in an active family environment, but the Border Collie is the breed that needs a job the most. The breed is renowned for its sensitivity to, and awareness of, human emotions..

  • Mostly correctly answered. The most common way that new growers turn their weed slightly more purple colors, is a “lacking of CAL/MAG” Nows days “most” growers are not silly enough to try using the other mentioned methods. It’s much too easy to get “genetic” with many different colors. Most stoners know days, know that buds can have many different colors such as Orange, Red, Blue, Black, Gold and Purple.

  • purple weed is generally a better tasting weed it takes a lot of genetic diversity for a weed to turn purple among countless normal weeds, this could have been selection and cross breeding done for eons, if there was only one purple plant in field and you had to select one to breed the smarter guy chooses the colorful and breeds it with better flavors therefor its better

  • Deep purples are real, even fully purpled. The bright blue/pink buds are sometimes made from using a colored/flavored flush, if it’s obviously not a camera trick. I don’t think purple weed tends to be stronger. It is although MUCH easier to see tricombs on dark weed. Certain berry flavors tend to originate in purple weeds as well.

  • When you have plants with purple genetics blueberry blackberry etc. the leaves are naturally purple how much harder is it to get on top of deficiencies when all the purple plants I see pictures of the leaves have yellow and orange in them?, like with a plant that has normal green leaves it’s easy to notice a problem straight away, but with purple the leaves always appear to have a problem.

  • i had totally purple weed as a teenager back inthe eighties and it was by far the very best high i was ever on as far as marijuana highs went, it was laughter inducing as if to have laughing gas right in it!, it was sooooooo good!, but this guy says that color makes no difference…. to him, he is the one who may have had food coloring in his purple weed, but that day as i was garunteed it would be ….purple weed is the very very very best.

  • Does purple weed utilize a different portion of the light spectrum? The reason anything is the color it is, is because that’s the color of light being reflected. So it seems counter-intuitive to me to try growing a purple plant under purple lights. It would seem that they should do better under green/ yellow, or full spectrum anyhow. Thoughts on this, anyone?

  • Purple has a unique high and taste. I like it. I found on two occasions a full ounce of dynamite ingrown purple herb when dumpster diving. I would roll big joints and walk thru Berkeley in the evening puffing away and so many people knew by the smell that it was the purp. ” that s that purple, boyyee!” People would shout when they cought a wiff.

  • I have never seen or smoked purple weed…. I have smoked orange or yellowish nuggets… that was awesome…just a few hits and five people we’re comatose.. and couldn’t move out the chairs at the table… only seen this awesome yellowish orange nuggets one time… miss that shit…. I did have some bad ass green weed that smelled like fresh sweet apples 🍎…. it would just fill the room up with fresh apple smell when you opened your bad up and rolled a joint…. was very very fragrant… it smelled wonderful. The guys I got it from could only come up with one reason why it would smell so delicious… I guess they brought it or smuggled it over here in a truck caring fresh apples. Or apple peels or something… it was sticky and smelled like fresh apples until you burned it then it had that skunk smell… was freaking fantastic… miss that shit too

  • I’m about had enough of this bullshit. Why do people get away with 50$ /8th for some dark green crap, especially these days when everything is extracted ” oil, wax, dabs etc.. and they re sell you poten-less stuff. This is the problem we all have today in terms of finding a good grower, I don’t mind purpless weed, but today I’m sorry if it’s not recreationally legal in your state, I’m skeptical to buy any green weed, that’s why I’m picky and can’t stand when people say puprle weed makes no difference . You are clueless my friend.

  • I’m growing white widow, white widow auto flower, skunk#1 and green ninja what colours can I get from them and how can I change it without putting them at risk?, obvs green ninja is going to be green I’m assuming but I don’t trust pics on the internet I’ve seen purple in white widow and I’ve seen black in Skunk #1

  • i dont mean to be a smart ass but you stated 4 reasons…. lol 1. The genes or strain 2. Colder environment while growing 3. Phosphorus deficiency 4. Some sort of dye Also i must respectfully disagree with you that purple weed isnt necessarily better (alot hold this view) because i have had all kinds of bud. frosty weed hairy weed earthy weed spicy weed sour weed all different hues my fave weed is always frosty hairy with purple in it with orange red amber or white. 2nd best weed is ussually lighter green. but my favorite strain was darker purple and i have had all kinds of high quality bud. I liked how this particular “purp” made me tired had a great body effect with a surprisingly strong head high and had a blueberry or grapish skunky flavor. Looked great smelled great tasted great and you guessed it the high was fucking great. 👌

  • look at Vancouver island seed co. they have a plant that grows purp leaves too in the summer outdoors they have fucken incredible make’s the best crumble. looks like scramble egg’s, smells so good I wanted to eat it. but smokes great ergo fucken incredible strain there Burmese is outstanding look it up great pricing for seeds

  • okay okay okay sorry bud but I ain’t trying to be an ass but about 1/3 of what you talked about are really just opinions not facts. like as for me I think everybody is the same but I dont prefer granddaddy purp or grape ap because of the color but because of the high I receive from it. but some people prefer indica more then sativa and others prefer sativa then indica and I actually pay less for purple bud then actually green bud and now see what I’m typing are facts and opinions so not every person who likes purple buds are stupid just everyone is different and it’s cheaper for me I live in Colorado by the way maybe it’s different prices in different areas because it’s rare like you even said. but anyways keep up the good work bud
