Do Chihuahuas bond with their owners?

1. clinging to a single favorite person. A Chi may inevitably gravitate toward and appear to have a stronger bond with a favorite when there is only one dog but multiple humans present in the home. The Chihuahua may prefer to cuddle with or become overly attached to a particular human, but this does not imply that he does not love all of his fellow humans.

Splitting up care duties is one way to strengthen relationships with all household members. A Chihuahua should be walked every day, played with in games like fetch, had meals prepared and set down, had their coat brushed, had baths, etc. by each person in turn.

2. assault on a few members of the family. This can happen if a Chihuahua becomes so attached to one person that other family members start to pose a threat to their relationship. The Chi can come off as incredibly jealous or overprotective.

How much playtime is required for a Chihuahua?

Compared to some other breeds, chihuahuas require relatively little exercise. They usually need to exercise for 30 to 60 minutes per day. Short walks, playtime, and interactive toys can all help you achieve this.

Although chihuahuas are typically healthy dogs, like any breed, they could be predisposed to certain medical issues.

Due to their small size, they may be more prone to injuries, such as fractures or dental issues, if not handled or cared for properly. Other health issues that Chihuahuas may experience include.

This list is by no means exhaustive. Consult your veterinarian if you have any worries about your dog’s health or if you want to learn more about whether a Chihuahua is the right breed for you.

How do chihuahuas choose a particular person?

Since 1904, the AKC has acknowledged chihuahuas in the US. There are only two types despite the wide variations in size and color: smooth and long-coat. Another factor contributing to the popularity and fashion of Chihuahuas is the development of teacup Chihuahuas, an unrecognized subclass of the breed that was developed for its diminutive size and capacity to fit into small handbags and even pockets. Like many other terriers and small dogs, chihuahuas have a tendency to be high-energy, brave, curious, and confident—even aggressively so. It’s not uncommon for a Chihuahua to scare off or intimidate dogs that are much bigger than it. Despite their sass, Chihuahuas prefer to spend their time indoors and do not like being outside for long periods of time. Dogs are well known for gravitating toward one person while rejecting new acquaintances, but this behavior could be explained by the fact that dogs tend to prefer people who are more like them. For instance, high energy people and dogs are more likely to get along.

Toy breeds like Chihuahuas are frequently referred to as “one-person dogs,” but this has less to do with the breed itself than it does with how they are socialized and raised. Chihuahuas have a bad reputation for being “yappy” or “mean,” among other things. Toy dogs that are poorly socialized and trained may be more likely to exhibit aggressive traits than breeds like Pit Bulls, Rottweilers, and Doberman pins. While not enjoyable, Chihuahua bites are less harmful than those from larger dogs. It’s possible that this is the reason some people disregard aggressive Chihuahuas as unimportant. Like all other breeds, chihuahuas need a regular schedule and a lot of training during their formative years. If you are disciplined and consistent, they perform well. They can be trained like any other dog, and when properly trained, they are actually happier and more accepting of other people and animals.

Can you leave a Chihuahua home alone for the night?

Nevertheless, leaving dogs or puppies unattended for an extended period of time is not advised. Leaving dogs home alone all night is included in this.

When a dog is left alone, especially one who has grown accustomed to company, many dogs become anxious. Regarding how long they can be left alone, there are additional factors to take into account.

Generally speaking, young puppies are able to be left alone for up to two hours, but this must be gradually increased with the proper training. For dogs older than 18 months, the maximum amount of time t

Do Chihuahuas harbor jealousy?

These ferocious little dogs adore being loved, but they also need to be given the same amount of care. When a new baby moves in, the Chihuahua will frequently become jealous of the baby’s attention and withdraw. In the worst cases, they are completely cruel to the kids.

But it doesn’t just affect infants. Even if a Chihuahua was raised with kids, they are perceptive enough to know when they aren’t getting attention, and they will start to act more domineering.

Finally, be aware that a Chihuahua’s personality doesn’t naturally blend with those of other dogs. These dogs tend to become entangled with bigger dogs that can hurt them and are dignified and aloof toward strangers. The tendency to be territorial and to exaggerate their size is ingrained in them, regardless of how well they were raised, socialized, or trained.

Should a blanket be put over a dog crate?

Dogs are den animals that prefer the security of a remote location; it’s instinctive for our canine friends to look for an enclosed, dark space when they’re scared or need to rest. Many dogs can benefit from a crate cover, such as a blanket or covering designed specifically for crates, which can help calm dogs by limiting visual stimuli, which in turn can stop excitement and barking. If a dog is in a covered crate, they are less likely to react when they see movement outside windows or in other parts of the building. When a cover is closed at night, it may be time to go to bed, while an open cover might be a good time to play. When traveling by car with a dog who gets anxious during the ride or when she is in an unfamiliar environment with new distractions, a covered crate can be especially useful.

The best method for introducing your best friend to a covered crate is gradually, just like when crate training. You should also never cover your dog’s crate with a blanket or cover to punish her because a properly trained dog views it as a secure and happy place. Instead, give them a chance to unwind in a covered crate.

To get your dog used to a covered crate, go through these steps.

How frequently should I let my Chihuahua outside?

How frequently should I let my Chihuahua outside?

Dogs typically urinate once or twice per day, usually right after eating. Because of this, you can anticipate when he needs to go outside when you meal-feed. After every meal and at least three to five times each day, dogs should be allowed to use the bathroom outside. Dogs shouldn’t be made to go without a bathroom break for more than eight hours.

When your dog needs to go potty, it’s always a good idea to accompany him. You can keep an eye on his output because of this. It’s not advised to just let him “go” without occasional supervision because bathroom deposits can provide early warnings of health conditions.

Nevertheless, there are times when it is impossible for you to be present to let your dog in and out. Maybe your dog needs more frequent breaks, or maybe you work longer than eight hours away from home. When you can’t keep an eye on your pet, pet doors and fencing options can give him more freedom.

Chihuahuas adore their owners, do they not?

Chihuahuas, the tiniest dogs in existence, make excellent companions. As long as you start early, they can be trained easily, form strong bonds with their owners, and are quick-witted. Because they prefer to be the center of their owner’s attention, they can be prickly around strangers.

Chihuahuas should sleep in crates, right?

When raucous kids or construction workers visit the house, the dog has somewhere to go. Chihuahuas are extremely possessive and become especially agitated when strangers enter their territory. They might be provoked to bite in some circumstances. You should crate your chihuahua so that he is safe and unable to cause trouble.

  • If introduced in a positive way, crating makes your dog feel secure. They may see the crate as a den and a secure area.
  • Helps with potty training because proponents believe that the child will hold it while being crated and won’t go potty in their den.
  • Safeguards them while you are away. If you crate your chihuahua, he won’t destroy the house, chew on the wires, or consume non-food items.

  • Our dog loves to use everyone of these positions almost at once every single day, the “Superman” we’ve often called it the “Frog” because it’s like the swim stroke or how frogs often have their legs, but for those that may not be aware this particular pose is also a good sign to show that your dog has good and healthy hips too since some breeds are known for developing hip problems later in life.

  • My dog passed away two weeks ago and he loved to sleep with his legs against them wall and kind of facing upwards, it was the weirdest way but always brought a smile to all of our faces. I miss him every day and I have moments where I’ll look to his old sleeping spots hoping to see him there. It’s nice to know that he had a safe space to rest in our home

  • My dog mostly does the curled-up or stretched-out pose (mainly I think the difference has to do with whether she’s cold or hot), with or without the cuddle-bug (back-to-back).But she also sometimes goes from stretched-out to “stretched-out but with all 4 paws together” (she has long legs), or “stretched-out with one or more paws touching me.” She also does the bed/blanket-digging-thing, and it’s hilariously adorable…adorably hilarious? Both? XP

  • My dog, Kindred, has been seen in almost all of the positions you showed! She’s pretty happy, confident, and very loving. She does sometimes sleep or rest with her paws under her jaws; I think this might be because she had a lot of teeth pulled when she was spayed, before her sale to me as a retired breeding dog, and I want to watch it because the vet warned that she would probably continue to have dental problems. What do you think?

  • I just can’t imagine people purposely hurting these wonderful creatures. We got our first dog as a married couple in 2007 and I can’t imagine life without them. We actually bought a motorhome so we can take our dogs with us on vacation and we’ve been almost up and down the Eastern seaboard with them including Disney.

  • I love perusal these wee articles as its very informative. My wee dog has a habit of either lying with her back to me so i can cuddle her while she’s asleep or we both are or she will mainly sleep on her back. I love this it looks comical. I have even seen her do the superman pose. I thought that she was trying to copy us but at least i know that she’s comfortable in her surrounding. ❤

  • I have several dogs. One is a big Mastiff/Newfie she loved (she has gone to doggy heaven, RIP Molly) she had slept in all positions but her favs were the foggy doggy pose. The other fav was laying on her back with front feet curled under and her hind legs spread out exposing her entire body. The other one loves to sleep on the coach on his side, head on the pillow. The other likes the foggy doggy lay and on his side

  • The donut position is also used every time your retired husband gets off his recliner and Maggie the labrador hops on. She used to hop up there when he went to work as I sat on the matching recliner, but follow me around the house at all other times(including the bathroom). But, being a labrador, she now hops on and gets a treat to get off several if not many times a day. Funny, she has never jumped on my recliner. She reports to the bedroom at 7:30 pm and I’m expected to join her by 8:30, or she sleepily comes out to where I am and clocks her head to one side, stares at me and sneezes. “Get your reading material, mom, and come cuddle”. Sometimes when hubby gets in she’s belly up between us. She’s a big girl, 93 lbs. She likes when he snores in her face. She snores back– hence my reading material.

  • This made me happy lol my dog is deaf and partially blind (only thing we can guess with the blindness is because his pupils are off center) and when we looks at me, it looks like he’s looking at me so lovingly🥺 But he’ll sit on my clothes while I’m trying to put them up and while it’s annoying I can help but find it funny😂

  • I watched this article as I’m concerned for my dog. She’s 14 (wire terrier-maltese mix) and sleeping a lot lately. I counted her sleeping breathing (as per the vet) and her slow breath means she’s ok lung wise (but she does have a heart murmur) but she’s been stumbling around and now sleeping in weird positions. Thanks for the info!!

  • • Side Sleeping If your dog adopts this kind of sleeping position, it is an indication that it has no worries. It is relaxed and comfortable in the surrounding it occupies and no uncertainty about it. The kind of dogs that adopt a side sleeping position are the ones that are affectionate and share a close bond with their owners. .. That’s my girl, 15 months & no worries.

  • We just recently lost our Rudy (my profile picture), the third and last living of my childhood dogs. I cried when you explained how they felt when side-sleeping. All 3 used to sleep that way, and I cannot express what it means to be reminded that they felt loved and comfortable. Thank you for sharing ❤️

  • I just rescued an abused puppy 2 weeks ago. He would hide, shake with fear and scream when I went toward him. Within 5 days, he was cuddling with me, sleeping on his back with paws up, and sleeping on his side next to me. I already knew he did, but this article warmed my heart that he trusts me and feels close to me. Oh, one funny thing, a lot of times, he sleeps right on top of my head..for hours! Still can’t figure that one out!! 🤣

  • Almost every male beagle my family owned LOVED to sleep on his back, with front legs drawn up on his chest and his back legs sprawled out, “displaying the goods,” as my Mom used to say. The females usually slept on their sides or tummies. Charlie, the male beagle we own now, lays on his back right at your feet and gives you the “please rub my belly” look, but likes to sleep on his side, completely wrapped in his blanket.

  • I’m glad that mine does a few things here. She hasn’t done though back sleeping in a long time which worries me but she is on her side a lot. I know she sleeps because I can hear her but I want her to be comfortable so much. I know she has no trouble with the bed she has and I think she kind of likes her pretty much but I thought she liked her old bed more because of the sleeping on her bad thing. I thought that was when they were most happy. Maybe I’m wrong because she spends a considerable amount of time on her side just laying on her pillow. I just love my girl so much that I worry that I’m not making her happy enough.

  • My dog does a little bit of everything. When it’s time to sleep she cuddles up (sleeps on her side), when she sleeps but I’m on my computer she’s on her back and paws bent, Superman when she’s napping but ready to play, lion pose when she’s too excited but knows it’s not time to play yet. Haven’t seen her do the donut too much though but it’s pretty hot here in Texas so maybe only cold weather times I’ll recognize it.

  • My big fur baby isn’t a baby anymore yet he loves laying on his back and when I’m laying on my side he will slowly push his way up to me while I’m sleeping and I usually wake up with him looking into my eyes with his chin resting on me. Talk about melting my heart ❤️. He’s so affectionate. Oh his name is Remi. I love him so much.

  • I noticed when I was at a local beach on a hot day and I was just sitting around talking with friends, my dog would dig a shallow hole in the sand and lay in it. They know the earth is cooler the deeper they dig. In cold times he would do the same thing in order to not be so exposed. I have a mix Husky and Yellow Lab as well and she likes laying outside sort of curled up but not tight donut, in the rain. Drives me nuts that she likes to lay in the rain or the snow. Must be a Husky trait waiting for her ancestral sled or something.

  • So I have 3 puppies, they’re all boys and 2 of them died, the first one died yesterday and the second died this morning. The first one died while in a side sleeping position(he was really affectionate and I got really attached with him,it’s good to hear he was relaxed before he died) and the second one died in a lion pose position(I guess he didn’t want to fall into a deep sleep but instead fell into a permanent sleep) it still hurts but I can’t do anything. Just wanted to share this, God bless!.

  • Wow! My siberian husky did all the sleeping positions you mention on ur article.. while my two male chows sleeps like superman and just comfortable lying down in their side.. Thanks for the article now I know why my chow is digging in our floor before he sleep everynight He needs to get his body warm.. ty 👏🏻👏🏻

  • I only saw Dolly a medium sized Chocolate in the “Lion Pose”. I would visit my grandmother so did not get to see the dog while at full rest. When I was trying out for wrestling. I was in the best shape of my life. This dog was so strong it could pull me if I did not dig in my feet to the ground in a wrestling stance. It also loved to run when I would walk her. Though, was slower moving perusal it’s owner my grandmother when out for walks. She walks slower than I so the dog responses to the one who rescued it. The dog clearly loves her as do I she. She is great people born in 1927. Dolly passed years ago and my grandmother is not as active these days though can still walk with usually no assistance.

  • Well most of the ones mentioned I guess. He’s a weirdo who tends to stand up and lay down a few steps away from the spot he was in before every few hours. During the day he usually sleeps curled up and in his bed by the window. When I’m making dinner he always migrates into my bedroom and just scratches my duvet into a pile. Then he turns about 50 times (not an exaggeration) and curls up there. He’s pretty much invisible like that. After his evening walk is when it gets weird. My family and I call it the dead possum. He’ll basically be on his back with his legs just completely spread. When he’s like that you also can’t see his head because of the weird angle he turns it. Or it will just be hanging over the side of his bed. It honestly looks very very uncomfortable. If I slept like that I most definitely wouldn’t be able to move at all the next day.

  • My dog sleeps in almost none of these positions, though he does side sleep a lot, his main position sleeping is none of the ones mentioned and it’s really hard to describe what it looks like without a picture. Either way, I know my dog trusts and loves me so not really worried about that part. Kind of want to know why he sleeps in the weird twisted pretzel way he does but my best answer is that it’s very easy for him to get up from that position if he has to. He’s very protective of me and probably wants to be able to leap up at a moment’s notice if he has to but also be comfortable enough to sleep.

  • My younger dog sleeps curled up but he tucks his nose under his paws instead of resting his snout on his paws. My older dog does the side sleep a lot and half the time we swear he’s dead. He has renal issues and has outlived the life expectancy the vet gave him, so from time to time we will find him on his side, start to cry because we think he’s dead, and then he wakes up and looks all annoyed because we woke him up

  • my 5 year old husky, ellie, always circles and digs the hard floor, or the comfy sofa, itll take her a few seconds or minutes to lay down and its the cutest thing ever! my other dog, shelby, always rests in the lion position, but always ends up changing to the side sleep and going into a deep sleep. i have SO many dogs, they all have different favorite sleeping positions that i could go on all day talking about them, but theres two here!

  • My dog passed away recently, she always slept on her side, even when she closed her eyes for the last time. If anyone sees this, give your dog a pat and tell them you love them. The time you have with them will pass and before you know it they’ll be living their last days. You’ll be happy you got up and decided to take your puppy on that walk even if you didn’t want to. I’d do just about anything to walk my old girl one last time. R.I.P Tango, the best dog a boy could have

  • Superman sleeping does not mean the dog wants to be disturbed so you can play! The most common reason my dog did it was so she could press her belly and inner thighs on the cold ground/floor if she was hot. Other than that, she seemed to be comfortable that way, and she slept that way during the night as well, especially if it was hot.

  • I’ve got a Jack Doxy (as I call her) and she’s a donut when alone on her big cushion. When a specific friend comes over, she’s a lion sleeper. Indeed, ready to play (something my friend always does with her). And when it’s bedtime she cuddles up to my belly. Side sleeper ánd donut. We do have a great bond and love/trust each other 100%.

  • Side sleeping: We took care of a dog this past weekend, it took her a couple of days to adjust to us when I noticed this. It looked like her owner is not taking good care of her because she could barely walk, was nervous to loud noises or when we pet her. She would act as if she was going to get smacked. We are trying to see if we could help her out since we took care of her for a stranger through a pet care site. She got along with our dachshund. Her name is Sammi, Wish we could have kept her.

  • My dog died 3 days ago and she slept with crazy legs position am glad that she was vulnerable and felt our home her safe space She always used to sleep on my bed whether i was with her or not she thought that bed as her own didn’t know it was because of my scent and your love towards me 😭 I am grateful for all the moments spent with her. U left too soon Miss you lilly 💔

  • Ever since my son was born, Megabyte went from sleeping in one position to sleeping in 4 of those and at times when my son goes to bed he will randomly walk but with a toy in his mouth basically saying, “OKAYYY THAT WILD THING IS ASLEEP ITS TIME FOR MY FUN TIME!!!” He’s an 8 year old husky/German Shepard mix. So, he’s older but still has that wild energy at times.

  • My 5 year old chipin sleeps always on the side. When I am lying down on sofa she is sleeping next to me on the side as well, touching her stomach (and her legs) against my leg, it feels warm and comfortable, sometimes she turns on her back, wants me to pet her on her stomach. Also, she always turns on her back to pet her first on her stomach before going inside my car. When I open my car door letting her know that we are going to the car for a ride she always does that. When people see that on a street they smile. Then I need to pick her up and put inside the car. I’m not sure why she does that. She loves to lick small kids and when she does that she is happy and when she is happy she starts to chase her tail for a bit. Also, recently she started to smell a woman and started to lick her in a cafeteria sitting next to us. I thought that she might have also a dog and my dog probably smelled her dog. Later on I found out that the woman is pregnant. Do dogs feel affectionate to pregnant women? Can they sense that a woman is pregnant?

  • My Chihuahua sleeps in all but on his back and the Superman pose. Every night when I’m sitting in bed perusal TV or playing article games, he’ll sleep in between my legs (usually on his side with his back up against one of my legs). Then, once I decide to go to sleep, he lays down on his side with his back against my belly. He loves my blankets and sweatshirts. Sometimes when I get hot, I’ll lay my sweatshirt on my bed. He might be toasty warm somewhere else on the bed, but as soon as an article of clothing hits the bed, he claims it! One other favorite thing that’s just like his love of clothing is his love of my “warm spots.” Oftentimes, I get up out of my bed to use the bathroom and when I return, my spot on the bed has been claimed by him! It doesn’t matter how warm his previous position may have been; if I get up and there is a spot of just my body heat, it belongs to him. I love my Chihuahua so much! We’ve been together for seven years now. He’s helped me cope with depression and the trauma of battling a rare disease. He is my best friend, and to know that the ways he sleeps show that he is happy and at peace is wonderful! 💖

  • My weenie dog when I was younger only slept on my clothes in the laundry room or in my room corner. He was such a good boy who loved running around the house at full speed. He also loved waking me up early so we could play together. He sadly had a heat stroke one sumner but I’ll forever miss him. I’m glad he loved me as much as I loved him.

  • My inlaws dogs all sleep cuddled up to me super close. They dont let anyone else in the house cuddle them like i do. Even my mil noticed that when im around she thinks its funny how everyone in the house becomes like chop liver 😂 idk why maybe because i give them the most treats or attention or positive energy but i love it.

  • My German shepherd takes naps on the floor doing the side sleeping position, when she sleeps she either side sleeps on the couch or the floor, and sometimes when she side sleeps on the couch she’ll have her head on a pillow. Other times she’s in a loaf position, like rabbits, or in a donut position on the couch

  • My Miniature Schnauzer sleeps in all of these positions at one time or another – including the “Superman”, and yes he sleeps that way at night so you’re wrong on that point. The circling/digging is called nesting and many breeds will do it anywhere they lay down, including on your furniture, which will include eventually tearing holes in it if you don’t break the habit.

  • I cuddle with my dog every night. One night i moved a bit and leaved a gap between me and her. She did the same until her back touched my belly again. It was so cute. 🥰 Also this days she comes to me when I lie in bed and suddenly leaves her weight half on me and half on the bed and puts her had on my chest. I can feel her love without words.🥰🥰🐶

  • My pitbull is a side sleeper when she’s next to me on the couch (working from home) during the day (she’s 13 and naps a lot) but at night she curls up in a ball but sleeps directly under my feet, she never moves away-she wants my feet to be touching her. Sometimes I’ll catch her curled up on top of all my pillows if I leave the room, like the Princess and the Pea. Sometimes around 4-7am she’ll get up and go sleep on my son’s bed at his feet.

  • Our dog – miniature pinscher -chubby,mostly happy, sometimes bored, very observant, spoiled and knows…lol… Sleep -when she is not taking day nap with me,she sleeps either in guest room, living room on her pillow on a sofa -she watch tv there too, she LOVES to come and sit on my husband place when he vacated, when she too hot – not often, she lay on a tiled floor under the table in the kitchen…poses -side,back,lion or batman -when perusal Tv,very seldom in donut, she love her pillows and very seldom sleep on a floor. No sticks, rarely toys – its always been funny to me,she is the only dog,who don’t care much for toys, she use to have a small red soft monkey, but when that toy got in pieces -she never got other that she attached to it and,oh boy did we try.

  • My Goldie is very happy and shows it regardless of what is going on he is now seven and is a big retriever and is quite heavy, but he tries ever day to sit completly on my lap of which only his front half ends up on me, but he will spend a really long time in this position while trying to get his nose in my ear. I cannot contemplate him not being around he really is good company and completely lovable.

  • My dog sleeps on my clothes; curled up; on his side and the superman position. I’m especially glad that to know what the superman position means. When he’s sleeps on his side 😴 he SNORES when he’s in a deep sleep…my sister was laughing 😂 when she heard him and said “wow..he sounds like he’s been working all day”…other times also on his side..I’ll get a whiff of a horrible smell and it’s my dog laying next to me passing gas.🤢🤬and he never moves a muscle. I inadvertently passed gas when he was laying next to me on the sofa…he jumped up, looked at me like I was crazy and jumped down off the sofa🤣🤣🤣.

  • My dog always sleeps in the v I create with my legs she always right there even though I wish sometimes she would come up in the cuddle position… Don’t care though because I instantly feel so much comfort just knowing she is close I go right to sleep love it and every morning I treat her for sleeping next to me all night well not really but I do feed her good and soon as she is done I play with her I literally love more then any human i know

  • My doggo is a heavy sleeper like me but acts as my personal alarm clock. She likes to sleep under covers and share the same pillow I use. She will always smother my face with her saliva at 6am to remind me that I have to exercise and take her with me. Too bad I get to see her sad puppy face when I have to go to work. ^^

  • My dog cuddles back to back with me or does the donut in the winter and if my bf tries to move her she growl at him and pushes her dead weight back. When she stayed with my cousin while I was out of town I got a text from him saying “Wow I don’t know Lena was such cuddler” lol so I know she was taking over his bed and growling at him too

  • My female blue heeler pit mix loves to cuddle up right next to me but also she likes laying her head either on my chest or on my neck or she likes to try to sleep on my shoulders, definitely not easy because I have really bad sleep apnea so I’m trying to figure out why she does this so much any ideas would help?? Thank you

  • My parson jack russell likes to tuck his nose and lots of times puts his paw over his tucked in nose..he also likes to lay on his back for attention during the day..and if some goes by and we dont notice him on his back..then he will start making noises so we notixe him..and then he gets attention and a belly rub!! We love him dearly🥰

  • I didn’t know this was ever a question. Why do YOU sleep on your back/side/whatever positions you sleep in?..because that’s how you’re comfortable. When my dog sleeps in my bed, she digs at the blanket until there are no bumps. I will spread the blanket out and make a donut shape so she can just lay in the middle. she stops digging and goes to the spot I made her. Eventually she will sprawl out though.

  • haha. my dog sleeps on the floor in my small room next to my bed, side sleeping. right when i wake up she is usually out of my room, but even a whisper of my voice would make her come up. she’d sit down facing her favorite scratching spot at me, later i’d pat her twice, indicating i was done petting her, then she’d look behind her, making eye contact with me, then she would go downstairs where my family members would usually be sitting on the couch

  • About that digging, I remember when my dog dug a hole that it could fit in and refused to get out. Continued for about 15 minutes until it got hungry. Also, I recently saw my dog, one of those hunting types, start digging on a walk. It sniffed the ground and then started to aggressively dig while shoving it’s head into the hole and sniffing whenever it stopped to dig. Did it catch something moving underground?

  • Yes my dog was happy but i was even happier having him. I lost my dog 9 months ago and i feel as if a piece of my heart is missing. I was always waiting on a sign and last week i met a man with his two dogs one was the spitting image of mine and i the guy said his name was Harry and i was quite taken aback as mine was called Henry and i believe Harry is another name for Henry i was very emotional but so comforted at the same time. Mine slept in all of the positions so he was very happy and i know he loved me.

  • While learning about dogs body language for the benefit of my relationship with my, now 6 year old Rottweiler, sleeping on their stomach also could be that they feel UNSAFE, or not well. They are hiding their internal organs, which is a trait from back in the wild. Also, with dogs on their back and paws up high, this should only be adored if the dog is your dog or a friends dog at their house and the owner is there. Some dogs do this to bait unsuspecting victims to pet them, or dogs to approach them, then they attack. Just be aware, and research this yourself so you know on your own. LOVE OUR PETS! 💖

  • my 6months old female indie puppy enjoys side body resting everytime she feels comfortable. the indications described here are seems to be 100% true as per my own observations too. The only position which isn’t there is when my puppy lies down on bed with one leg stretched and one leg below belly while hands on chin. Any specific reason?

  • My dogs do them all and more… •My dogs like to lie between your legs like if you make an O shape with your legs and lean there head on your leg or foot • my dog likes to lie/stand/sit between my leg and the armrest of the couch and rest his head on my thigh and sleep, sometimes he can be sitting, sometimes he’s standing

  • My little Taco Terrier sleeps on my pjs when I leave them at the foot of my bed. At night she likes to burrow between the blanket and sheet and lay close to my right side. When she needs to go out she will sit beside me and gently tap on my shoulder to wake me up. She also loves to play “Go Find”. I hide treats for her at night before we go to bed, while she is outside. When I let her back in I tell her “go find”! She will look everywhere for her treats till she finds them. I always tell her “Good Girl”. She loves the little game and will remind me if I am busy with something that it is time to play our little game.

  • sometimes i just decide to fall asleep on the couch instead of makin the effort to go up the stairs to bed, and my dog always joins me on its back in the smaller spoon position for lack of a better term lol and we just cuddle like theres no tomorrow, those are the best nights, until he rolls over and pushes me off the couch and i fall off said couch and he acts all apologetic which im 100% sure is a facade and a half…. he knew what he did… it happened again just yesterday… cant blame him though, im glad he feels comfortable enough to do that… but no i do blame him, hes evil.

  • My pitbull would whimper and cry in her sleep broke my heart I got her when she was a year old someone tied her to my neighbors gate in January with nothing and she almost froze to death… I took her to the dog park just me and her about a week after I got her I tried to play a game of hide and seek with her I hid behind a huge oak tree and watched her… “The panic on her face when she didn’t see me was frickin heart wrenching” I jumped from the tree and she bolted to me jumping all over me… I think she was abused and someone stole her and tied her to the neighbors gate thinking he was home to rescue her… She definitely had abandonment issues

  • Hello team My pet is a pug I adopted 2 yrs ago he is 5 yrs now. He sleeps well but not with us, he feels hungry most of the times, he likes to share my fiod, he sleeps most of the time in superman position day time’ and sideways at night snoring,he lives carrot, curd rice he had itching allergy so we change his food to a vegetarian bn dirt. He always follows either if us he doesn’t like to walk much he sleeps on my clothes sometimes, he loves to play soft toys, he doesn’t bark except for street stray dogs when he moves on the bike with me, he takes his bath quietly, he eats well he loves us and my neighbour and we love him too.

  • My dog sleeps is all of those positions except prone, he’s a slim dog with a thick chest cavity, the dog is all lungs, so he’s just not shaped right for sleeping in his back. He does like to relax on his back in a lazy boy with the man of the house. It’s the only way to get him to relax of there’s fireworks.

  • My dog sleeps under the covers with his head on the pillows, he also takes up the whole bloody bed but I wouldn’t change it for anything. Edit: I know it’s not many but 64 likes is the most I’ve ever got buy a big margin, thank you Edited again 337 likes brilliant thanks guys appreciate it. Edited again, again 604 likes love you guys Another Edit, 933 likes thanks to everyone who’s given a thumbs up or replied 👍

  • How about laying on his back, up against the wall, with his back half tilted towards the wall and his front half facing away from the wall? My golden naps like that all the time when I’m working. Seems like it would be pretty uncomfortable, especially on hardwood floors, but he’s done it for 5+ years. There are scratches all over the wall from him laying in this position in the hallway, and then flopping around to get up when I walk through haha.

  • Across my legs. Takes my space when I get up, for any reason, off the bed. Crawls into and down my covers, curls up looking at me. Sideways, head out of covers. Back to back with her head on the other pillow. Upside down for tummy itches in morning…underarm itch and stretches out locked legs to enjoy jt. My dog is just now 2. Has had over 40 offers to rehome her – no thanks. Been offered $500 at age 11months to buy her ($50 shelter dog) Trained by me, off leash after 4 months, nearly certified service.

  • My dog has extreme separation anxiety, when i was little my parents fought alot, so me and him would sit together in my room, when i got older me and my dad were extremely busy and almost never home, i started leaving clothes from the day before in the corner of my room, so that my dog could curl up and smell me, it made him alot more comfortable and he will go in my clothes in my room when hes worried. Luckily i finally get more freetime and can bring him more places with me, hes a very quiet dog and doesnt bark or cry, but when hes upset he stays close to me, im very lucky to have such a baby Edit: hes a cuddler♥️

  • Midwest farm country here. Many farm dogs will dig a small depression in low ground during hot days. Heated garage living during the winter months. They all curl up in a ball of fur and unmitigated fun and loyalty. The working dogs mostly stay with their herd at night. Feed em 2× a day and let em do what they do. They cuddle with the cattle, goats or whatever animal they are trained to protect. The large cattle farms(Free Range) of the Ozarks of Arkansas pay thousands for their dogs. They are not the best pets tho.

  • I have two dogs, they’re chihuahuas. They both think they are humans. One, sleeps right next to me or between me and my boyfriend. She sleeps on her back with the blanket up under her legs so her paws are over the blankets. Now my other dog there is no other dog like him. He sleeps like he is doing a yoga pose. It’s like superman but with his butt up in the air then he will fall over to his side. He also watches T.V. with me and sits like a human. We are always laughing at him . Wondering what he is going to do next.

  • My dogs sleep shows they are comfortable and trustworthy. My sleep shows I’m tired from working all the time to pay their mortgage. Lets face it..its there place and Im living in it. But they are worth every dime and every hour I give at work in overtime so I can shower them with love. In the end they spoil me with their appreciation by showing me affection and love. Which I get more from them than my own husband of 28 years.
