Has The Pit Bull Terrier Got A Short Nose

Expert’s answer:

The American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) does not have a short nose. The muzzle of the APBT is broad and deep with a very slight taper from the stop to the nose, and a slight falling away under the eyes. The length of the muzzle is shorter than the length of the skull, with a ratio of approximately 2:3. The topline of the muzzle is straight. The nose is large with wide, open nostrils, and it may be any color. The APBT has a complete set of evenly spaced, white teeth meeting in a scissors bite. The eyes are medium-sized, round, and set well apart and low on the skull. All colors are equally acceptable except blue, which is considered a serious fault.

Do pit bulls have short snouts?

Pit bulls are descended from the Molosser, an old Greek dog breed. Molossers had pendant-shaped ears, big bones, and short muzzles. Today’s numerous descendants still exhibit these traits, which is why it can be challenging to distinguish between different bully breeds.

The American Staffordshire Terrier, American Bulldog, Alpha Blue Blood Bulldog, Bull Mastiff, English Bull Terrier, Boxer, Cane Corso, Presa Canario, and hybrids of these breeds are some examples of bully breeds.

Pit Bulls come in a wide range of variations. Although many of these dogs look alike, you can learn to spot the small variations.

How do purebred pit bulls appear?

Breeds of pit bulls are powerful and stocky, with deep chests and blocky heads. They combine the intelligence and tenacity of a terrier with the strength, bravery, and friendliness of a bulldog.

Due to their history of being bred for bull baiting, pit bull breeds have developed a fierce reputation. Numerous pit bull breeds were used as farm dogs and companions after that was made illegal in the middle of the 1800s. Sadly, some of them were bred for dogfighting, which is still practiced today despite being prohibited. The naturally sweet personalities of these breeds have been emphasized by responsible breeders in recent years, who have worked to reduce any aggressive traits.

As with many other breeds, these are excellent breeds that prosper with the right training and socialization, according to Brandi Hunter Munden, a representative for the American Kennel Club. “Families and children get along well with them. Although the breeds may have been developed to fight or guard, those functions are no longer carried out by them. Responsible breeders have bred them for a sociable and endearing temperament that owners genuinely love and trust for decades and decades”.

In spite of having a short, stocky frame, Staffordshire bull terriers are very personable. These English-bred dogs, weighing 24 to 38 pounds, are small enough to fit in a car or on a couch. Furthermore, as long as they are by your side, they are content to be anywhere.

How can a pitbull terrier be distinguished?

Pit bulls come in a variety of colors and color combinations. muscles, a broad, deep muzzle, a clearly defined, moderately deep stop, and a powerful under jaw. The head has an appearance similar to a broad, blunt wedge when viewed from the front. Round to almond-shaped, low in the skull, and widely spaced apart are the eyes.

How can I tell if my dog is a pit bull?

Keep an eye out for a wide, wedge-shaped head and thick neck. The dog’s head will likely appear wide and slightly rounded from the front, but due to a long muzzle and low forehead, it will appear like a wedge from the side. The fighting heritage of pitbull-type dogs is responsible for many traits, including this head shape..

High-set ears and deep-set eyes are to be expected. The dog’s brow and muzzle provide good protection for the eyes, which typically have an oval or almond shape. Like the shape and position of the eyes, the ears are typically high and set back, which provided some protection during combat..

Look for a single, brief, bristled or smooth coat. There is no undercoat in almost all pitbull-like dogs’ single coats. Normally, the single coat is short and has a bristly or smooth texture. Pitbull coats can be light fawn, chocolate, black, white, tan, brindle, or any combination of these colors..

What is mistaken for a pit bull?

Many people mistake staffies for pit bulls because they think the two breeds are the same. This is due to the fact that the American pit bull terrier, Staffordshire bull terrier, and American Staffordshire terrier were all members of the same dog breed at one point in time in history.

A pit bull terrier is made up of which two breeds?

A pit bull is a fighting dog that originated from bulldog and terrier ancestry for hunting in the 19th century in England, Scotland, and Ireland. As an American Pit Bull Terrier, too.

Pit bulls, also known as American Pit Bull Terriers or Pit Bull Terriers, are fighting dogs that originated in 19th-century England, Scotland, and Ireland from bulldog and terrier ancestry for hunting, specifically catching and restraint semi-feral livestock. The American Kennel Club does not recognize the term “Staffordshire Bull Terrier” as a separate breed, despite the fact that it has historically been used to refer to a number of dog breeds, including the bull terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and Staffordshire Bull Terrier. However, the American Pit Bull Terrier, as the breed is known by the United Kennel Club, was first acknowledged in 1898. The breed is also recognized by the American Dog Breeders Association (ADBA), whose main goal is to promote the qualities of the American Pit Bull Terrier that people value, such as its loyalty, commitment, and athleticism.

Even though these dogs were originally bred and trained to be aggressive toward other dogs, aggression toward people was discouraged because, even when fighting, the dogs had to be controlled by their handlers. It was decided not to breed any dogs with this trait. Unfortunately, reckless breeders encouraged these traits in their animals and mistreated them to give them a vicious temperament as a result of the resurgence of dogfighting, which is now illegal in the United States, Great Britain, and many other nations. Some jurisdictions passed legislation banning or restricting the keeping of the breeds as a result of well-publicized attacks on humans by dogs classified as pit bulls. Pit bulls that enter the care of some humane societies are routinely put to death because they are deemed unsuitable for adoption. Numerous p
it bull owners and owner organizations (like the ADBA) regularly denounce the mistreatment of the breed by negligent owners in response to the breed’s unfavorable reputation, contending that any dog breed is capable of displaying similar aggressive behavior when trained incorrectly.

The breed is not appropriate for dog parks. Despite a pit bull’s past history of getting along with other dogs, this could change once it reaches maturity (at around 18 months of age) or if it is confronted by another dog. Pit bull specialists even suggest that multi-dog households have a breaking stick on hand to pry open the jaws of dogs in the event of fights. Pit bulls require a secure yard to play in. Due to the breed’s athleticism and tenacity, special attention should be paid to making sure the fence is secure, with strong and tall sides that cannot be tunneled under. Leash walks should be added to time spent outside, and pit bulls should be outfitted with harnesses that prevent them from pulling their owners. Games, agility, obedience, and scent work, coursing, flyball, and any other activity that challenges both the mind and the body are also suggested. Weight pulling is a sport where the breed excels. Swimmable or not, pit bulls may enjoy it.

How can you tell if your dog is pit bull-type?

Look for a muscular, athletic, well-defined body appearance. Despite the wide range in size of pitbull-type dogs, they typically have an athletic, powerful appearance. Although the dog’s diet, way of life, and state of health may affect how muscular it appears, you’ll probably notice broad shoulders and an angular physique..

Check for a broad, wedge-shaped head and thick neck. This head shape, like many characteristics, comes from pitbull-type dogs’ fighting heritage..

Expect to see deep-set eyes and high-set ears. The dog’s muzzle and brow provide excellent protection for the eyes, which typically have an oval or almond shape.

What are the three types of pitbull?

These are:American Pit Bull Terrier: The tallest and most athletic of the pit bull types. .. American Bully: A squat, stocky dog that was first developed in the 1980s and ’90s. .. American Staffordshire Terrier: Slightly shorter and heavier than the American Terrier, this is perhaps the most playful pit bull.

Pit bulls are arguably the most misunderstood breed of dog. Many owners love their loyal pets, but the public perception is often different. There is even confusion about the true definition of what is a pit bull, as there are many different types of bully breed dogs.

There is no mistaking the popularity of pit bulls. According to statistics, there are approximately 18 million pit bulls, or 20 percent of the larger dog population, owned in the United States. Many dog organizations want to make clear that the few bad actions of humans with pit bulls should not reflect on the breed of the dog.

How do I know if I have a pitbull or a bully?

One very clear difference is appearance. The American Bullies are more muscular and very broad often with larger heads and shorter legs. The American Pit Bulls are not as muscular and not as wide.

Pit Bulls are medium sized dogs weighing about 30 to 70 pounds and stand about 18 to 22 inches at the shoulders, while American Bullies are more like 50 to 120 pounds. In both breeds actual weight and height are less important than the proportion between weight and height. Weights and heights vary in both breeds, but the goal of the American Bully to be muscular and broad with a big head remains a clear difference.

  • My wife and I rescued our male red nose about 6 months ago. His name is Rogue, and he’s an incredible dog. We have a 3 year old son, and an almost 2 year old daughter, and Rogue does great with both of them. He’s four years old, and was previously raised with other small children. He’s a strong 75 lean, muscular pounds. He seems a bit taller than most other Pitbulls I’ve seen, so I’m wondering if he has Great Dane or something else in him. But you did say these red nose tend to be on the bigger side. I keep him active and we feed him appropriate portions. 3-4 cups of grain free, duck-based food a day. He can be stubborn, but he really does want to please us. I’ve gotten him from being an intense puller on the leash, to walking consistently by my side. He’s gentle, loves everyone he meets, and he did a solid B+ job spending time with one of our friend’s golden retriever’s the other day. I get compliments on his good looks often. He’s got that muscle and that shine we all like. You’re right, people like the look of these dogs… (That said, he has larger portions of white than some images I saw here. I’d say he’s 3/4 red and 1/4 white (neck, down the middle of his face, belly, and lower half of front legs, and toes of his back feet. Thoughts on that?) But he’s got the red nose, red nails, gold eyes, red ears, etc. I’m also curious what your thoughts are on hip issues with this dog. I run him in the field, play fetch and walk him most often. But I’ll also go on a 2 mile run with him 1-2 times a week too.

  • My red nose recently passed away at 13 years of age he was very loyal excellent with children & knew who to be friendly with & who to be on guard with. His name was Ibby he was redish tan with a white stripe between his eyes & had white paws & chest. He weighed approx 76-78 lbs solid muscle. He protected his farm against coyotes & strangers. He also got along great with our two minature Schnauzers & loved to play with balloons 🎈 😀. We will always miss him 2008- 2021. If anyone out there reading this knows where to get a legit Red nose please message. This breed is becoming harder to come across.

  • Thank you for your article! We got our red nose Amstaff 4 years ago. I’m in Melbourne, Australia and knew nothing about pit bulls but he really needed a home at the time and we wanted to help him. Storm was very challenging at first he chewed everything and even escaped our yard once, he growled at my husband and nipped at him when my husband went near his bed. We got advice from our vet and educated ourselves on the breed and he is honestly the best and most rewarding dog. Looking back, this dog breed is a big responsibility and I should have educated myself more about the breed before I got him and that way I would have known what to expect. I was willing to put a lot of time and effort into Storm and treat him like a family member and that’s what made the difference. This breed is definitely not for everyone. You need to be very honest with yourself and realistic before choosing a Pit Bull.

  • I had a red nose 25 years ago was crossed with Rufus, red boy and Zibo😊 after three gun shots at 12 gauge blast, he took his own life, chasing a squirrel, now I have a seven month old red nose crossed with a gator apbt! He is amazing his chest is super thick. He has a classic marking jaws are unbelievably strong for a puppy. His neck is 20 1/4 inches in diameter. His head is 19 1/2 inches in diameter. He’s huge mass Zibo was only 37 pounds on a fat day 33 pounds solid.😮 and he only stood maybe 16 inches off the ground if that, but this dog is a lot more friendlier a little bit harder to control and I believe any of these dogs with American terrier in them that was bred into I guess make them family oriented at my tango was a beast he could pull sleds I believe I think he topped out at like 1270 some pounds, but I would like to educate myself a lot more. My dog comes from a good bloodline the great grandparents are in Carolina. I’ll send you the info. I’m waiting on it now.

  • I had a rednose for 12 years, she was the best dog ever. Unfortunately, she had cancerous tumors and ran away to die. I never found her, and I never got over her. I have her son he is 17 years old. He is a very tired old man. He has always been an amazing dog. It’s taken me 8 yrs to get another female.. she is a crazy puppy always by my side, such a beautiful lil girl and always talking.

  • You are giving some good knowledge on that particular strain of dogs. I’ve been in the game for a long time and had the pleasure of working with some of the greats. I don’t like to mention names. But as far as I know the last of that strain was done in the 80s early 80s and you would have to go see Hemphill or Dan Norod for a true old family red nose back then

  • I have a beautiful little Red Nose named Miss Harriet Buttercup. We got her as a 13 week old puppy about 8 years ago, and she has been an amazing part of our family. We recently tested her DNA, (to figure out her eye problems) as we got her through rescue and thought she was a mix. She’s 100% APBT! She has every characteristic of an OFRN, from the red split nose to her red lips and red nails and her red fur with white paws, pink toes, and a white blaze She has a gorgeous, compact, muscular body. And she’s so game we cannot let her near strange dogs, even with a muzzle. She adores her big sister, an Amstaff mix named Bella, but we had to be very careful introducing her to our newest pups. It took almost six months, but she has finally warmed up to the older pup–a little. LOL. She hunts and eats rabbits dumb enough to try to nest in our yard. But, she LOVES people, and cannot get enough attention. I’ll always rescue, but I would totally seek out a Red Nose again after my experience with my little Nain Rouge princess! ❤

  • The OFRN American version of the Red Nose dogs began primarily with Mr. Lightner. Last of those dogs ended up with Mr. Bob Hemphill. Was plenty of them available in the late 50’s and 60’s. Mr. Jake Wilder had the last of the Bob Hemphill bloodline with maybe a few other dog breeders. Iron Side Kennels bought the last of Jake Wilder’s OFRN dogs. Stidham had some, IMHO, believe the Sire of Bass’ Red Boy was a Stidham/W. Cable/G. Long strain. Red Boy was closely related too the two dogs Red Boy won over. Mr. Stidham had dogs directly from Mr. Bob Hemphill and thoroughly game tested his dogs. Mr. Creebs a black dog man in N.C. got dogs from Mr. Stidham and he also game tested his dogs like Mr. Stidham.

  • Hey, great vid. Brendan from New Zealand here. my red nose boy is 5, from the sorrels blood line. Vinnie. His best trait for me is how he pulls me up the hill each day,its like power walking on flat ground, but uphill. He loves it. Everybody laughs who sees. Very smart dog. He takes no crap! Lucky to have crossed paths with each other, because I’m unsure what would of happened to him.

  • We have had OFRN pit bulls all my life, our first was a “fight dog”, he was never fought, we used him for hunting feral pigs in CA (out past lake Folsom). He was a Hemphill X with Commers, we ended up in WA State and worked with Diane Jesop with her kennel Boldog Kennels as well as with the Commers and we have several Commers reds including daughters from Commers Champion Cesar. I currently have a Swogger Red Coat, Mana is one of the last direct line dogs from Swogger, her dad was a outcross from Bryant Red Devil and a XXL line, she is 13 and doing amazing still!! We just got a bully dog pup and it’s the first time in 35yrs I’ve gone outside of OFRN lines for a dog, so far she’s been great.

  • I adopted a 6 month old bully a few days ago from the local pound. So I have no idea what his pedigree is, but he has amber eyes, red/pink on his face, nose etc, but a very unusual coat colour, it’s like a milky coffee but with a bright golden shine under lights. Microchipped as an AmStaff x, but anyways it doesn’t matter what he is! He is very sweet and and good looking dog. Loads of work to do though, the little rogue hasn’t been taught anything 😂

  • I just had a little pup with a red nose find me on a walk. After perusal this, informative by the way, she is much darker “red” more brown really, but she is beautiful. She’s so strong and also sports the red nails too. I only even looked at that after perusal this. She’s about 7 months as close as we can guess and already broke 50 lbs too. However, as pure as she looks, I have no idea who her parents 😢 maybe she has a bigger breed in her. Anyway, thanks for the article, and have a great day.

  • I have a red nose. His name is Rosco and he’s 2.5 yrs old. He’s the sweetest, most loving dog I’ve ever had. He was placed in foster care by his owners because they needed a temporary solution for their dog while they searched for a new home and then they never came back for me. I never would have picked a pit for myself so it was truly fate that brought him into my life. I have only had him for 9months and I can’t even remember what my life was like before him. He’s probably not pure bred because he’s 70 lbs. and a little tall I think for the breed. Best companion dog I’ve ever had.

  • His name is Diesel and he is a Red nose, now 9mths old he was saved by me and my woman from being used as a way of his siblings allowed to attack and train fighting on him. He was all ribs and head when we took him of his owner and took quite a while for him to even come to me….Now he is obedient loyal and a loving nature…

  • We have what we were told was a Staffy. A little while ago we met a guy who used to breed red nose pits and told us Sam is not a Staffy he is a pit. He looked at him closer. And said something about his eyes and nails. That he may have had old blood lines. Then he asked if he preyed on animals. Yes for the most part stirred and other wild ones. But if he gets fed up, domestic animals. Like my daughter has a chiuaua who barked at Sam all of the time. He did nothing, until he did. One time before we knew it, he had the little dogs head in his mouth. He didn’t bite her. He knew it was wrong. He was just tired of the barking.

  • Seeing this makes me want to get my girl tested. I’ve had her for ten years. I took her from someone who was fighting her. Because I took her he wouldn’t give her pedigree papers up. She is very needy for attention. She around 60lbs of muscle. A lot of folks who see her think she is a male. She has red lips, red toes, amber eyes. She loves kids and will protect them from anyone including their own parents. And she is very animal aggressive. It doesn’t matter whether it is fur bearing or feather baring. If it moves she wants to hunt and kill it. Professional trainers I’ve her too said it’s ingrained in her breeding. Her tenacity and focus is indescribable. I raised Staffordshire pitties for years. I thought the OF was gone but now I am curious about her characteristics. As she looks more like an AmStaff Terrier then a Staffordshire. I also have a red Staffordshire male who is half the size of her in stature . He is new to our family and of course has to be kept separated from my girl because of her drive. He landed in my ownership after my baby brother got cancer and couldn’t keep him anymore. Still learning his character.

  • I got a rescue red nose mix, moms friend found her in the street very skinny and scared, she decided to give her to us. We’ve had her for 2 years and shes maybe 4 almost 5 years old. I’m her favorite person and she lives inside. Her name is Lala, sweetest dog ever to people, but very aggressive to other dogs

  • My rednose is about 5 months, male, his name is Boogie and I rescued him from a homeless man going into treatment and had no where to put him. He was only 6wks old at the time and those eyes got me. He looked at me (Boogie) and I was compelled to help, and I just knew what I needed to do. I feel like it was fate and Boogie found me and claimed me as I him. Funny story, he did not have a name for weeks. Nothing suited him. And he wouldn’t come or respond to any name. Then I said hey Boogie! And he ran to me fast as a rocket. Hahaha 🙂 more like a cannon as solid and quick he is… I also have an all black German shepherd, female, named Queen and she is just two years old. Ah man, I love my dogs and they both have my heart in their own ways and both so loyal.

  • I have a female her name is Lucy she was rescued in Texas by her previous owner she was being used as a breeding dog for a fighting ring… I think she is around 4 years old… She was brought to my house with her puppies then they came back for her and the pups.. she was such a good dog.. not a very good mommy because her pups had always been taken from her so she had no idea what she was supposed to do… A few months after she left they brought her back… Their trailer had a pitbull ban and they would be evicted the next morning if they still had her so I took her right away… She has alot of anxiety issues but I tell you what you can not lay a hand or raise your voice around me or my kids.. she has protected me several times.. she’s a blessing to me

  • My girl Stella fits the criteria, but I know she’s not an old family red or anything like that. Red nose, red lips, amber eyes, red/brown claws, red paw pads, big ol head😂 she’s about 55lbs and built like a little tank. I still call her a red nose because most people around here won’t know the difference lol.

  • Awesome website! I aquired a red nose 1 1/2 years ago. Allthough he does resemble the OFRN he is not. He was a rescue from some people that had no idea of what they were doing. This dog is an amazing dog. He is a very serious dog and does have a bite history, mainly due to the ignorance of the previous owners. There was absoloutely no structure given to this dog, he was beaten, burnt and malnurished. He is now 2 1/2 years old and has been a work in progress but worth every second. The name I have given him is “Biff” You can check him out @ dog_like_us on instagram.

  • This is Bella we rescued her from the pound five years ago. The pound said they found her and her siblings in a bag on the side of road. She was really thin when we got her. The pound said she was a boxer vizsla mix. But I personally think she’s more red nose pit Bull. I’m hoping to do a DNA test to get a better idea of what she is. If she is part pit she is one loyal, loving, and intelligent dog. There are no bad breeds just bad owners. youtu.be/vJJEnEacdgI

  • I got my red nose male, chocolate color 3 years ago, his name is Zeek and he is the baby of our household, he loves my 17 years old son and he is my 2 cats favorite fluffing pillow, he is a chunky boy and adorable, he gets well with everything and everyone, super cuddling napping lover. My friend gave him to me because he was too friendly and unable to keep guard on hers and her boyfriend small Marijuana growing ( Legal, I’m in California) and often mama dog and papa dog would beat Zeek ( Zeek is one of their puppies) and once the male papa dog almost killed Zeek. Now I can’t imagine our life without him and my son is trying to make me let him take Zeek to the barracks once he enlisted in the army and I can’t part from Zeek either, so we are fighting for him, 😂😂. Zeek is an amazing dog, excellent companion and a goofy ball.

  • Yes I have a red nose pitbull we rescued him from the pound. His name is Drake and he is 60 lbs maybe more. He is 2 years old and friendly as hell, everytime we go somewhere people stay away from us just because of he’s a pitbull. We try to tell people that Drake is a friendly dog he’s friendly to people and to dogs he just wants to play he’s never fought with anybody.

  • Mine is a red nose…or not. Got him from a shelter….everyone thinks he is red nose. All I know is I love him. His name is Puddle G. He is a male…60 lbs and probably about 3 years old. I have had him 2.5 years. He has 3 times the energy my pit boxer mix had. Thats him in my thumbnail. He is smart and good natured but very, very protective of me in the car. When people ask to pet him I say…rather not. That is only when he is sticking his head out the car window and he acts more vicious as they get closer. Other times he is fine with everyone. His fur is red, his eyes are gold, his nose is that odd color and 9 of his toenails are red.

  • I have a red nose without a pedigree and without it, I’m forced to say it’s an American pitbull . The physical characteristics are amazing and exactly everything mentioned in the article . I live in Houston and I’m desperately looking for a female red nose with the same characteristics. I’m interested in breading him and if you happen to have a female red nose, and are interested in breading her contact me and I would want pick of the litter. Once you have a chance to see my dog your going to be amazed and that’s an understatement. I’ve seen several other dogs but nothing could hold a candle to the one I’m blessed to have . He has been rescued from being a guard dog and is loving the attention . It’s a slow process teaching him to trust and he’s just now learning how to play. I’m hoping to give him the ability to be a loving pet rather than A Gaurd dog used to scare and intimidate potential criminals.

  • I have a male named Odin, he’ll be 7 this November! I got him in CO at 6wks old and We’ve been glued to each other’s side ever since. I love my handsome boy, he’s tan/ white his eyes are a golden honey color. I’ve had 2 children since and he’s loved his sister and brother since we brought them home from the hospital. He sleeps at his brothers crib and sometimes lays in his sisters bed with her at night. He’s our four legged king in our house. He’s spoiled with love and good food lol always!! His favorite is steak and chicken!! I honestly cannot imagine our lives without him, he’s been the best loyal companion ever!! I vow to love, and take care of him until he’s an old stinker and it’s his time.. these dogs as all dogs deserve all the love we can give them! They are so degraded for “their reputation” but I say, tame the damn inhumane humans.. not the dog. These dogs would give their life for you. But most of all, they are some of the goofiest, cuddly, happiest and playful dogs Ive met!! And they have one of the best smiles!! 💕🐶

  • Just recused a male on the side of the road (some idiot throw him out) skin and bone and I didn’t think he would make it. A week later, he’s put on a few pounds, and with the help of antibiotics he’s clearing up and some of his personality is coming out. Still can tell he was physically abused but time and tlc will take care of that! Once he’s a bit more comfortable I’ll introduce him to the rest of our pack( boxers and gsd) I’m 54 and have had dogs my whole life but may need prayers with this guy.

  • My roommate rescued a puppy from some tweakers, after realizing he wasn’t ready for the responsibility I now have a 10 week old red nose pit named “Fang”. This kid is highly intelligent. Is there a way I can get blood work done to know his actual heritage because he has the copper red nose, red nails, small white patch on his chest and lean/athletic build?

  • I don’t think mine is a pure, he’s got a lot of cattle dog traits characteristically, but LOOKS like a red nose pit, we got him from a shelter. But…he’s got a red nose, golden eyes, he’s got white on his chin/chest a little stripe on his head and white socks, anything else he’s kinda pinky xD (along with his claws) he’s THE SWEETEST dog I’ve ever had, and is a super snuggler lol. His name is Loki and yes…he lives up to the name. 😛

  • I have a red red nosed boy. His mother is a Boudreaux/Eli who is white with black. She is agile as a cat. She can run and jump on the roof of a one story house. She can climb trees. (I have another dog who is line bred Boudreaux/Eli-Carver/Midnight Cowboy who is just as agile too. He is a different story though). My Red Kahuna Malu’s father is a Razor’s Edge blue blue nose. He is short, stocky and just stunning looking. He is not as agile or as big as his baby mama though. My Red boy is on the larger size with big bones. He is not as agile as his mother, sadly, but he is strong as an ox. He weighs ninety pounds at one year and two months. He is a big swimmer and is all muscle. I love this Red baby so much. His eyes are hazel with green on the insides and amber on the outside with a darker amber lining. He has a thick neck, big bully head and a shorter nose. He is a sight to see no doubt. He is rather protective of his human mama. He has a deep voice and low growl. Lots of energy of course. So my red red nosed APBT is mixed bloodline. I am impressed.

  • ‘ Dottie Jackson ‘ is a all white ‘ Red Nose ‘. I’m told breeders of reds will occasionally get an all white dog. The eyes are yellow, mouth, lips and nose is that classic copper color. All muscle and sleek . She’s 3yrs .old, and extremely animal agressive. 50 lbs protective. Don’t even think about getting in my vehicle. I’ve had three APBT in the past 26 yrs. Back in the beginning I read four Richard Stratton books.. You can see her on my website. ‘Coastal Kev ‘ The article is called ‘Dottie Jackson cross fit .’ She is not fixed . She has no papers. She’s ‘ turned on ‘ . There’s only one test to see if she is ‘ game ‘. I’ve not done that. I’m in it for long haul. The next ten years should be interesting. She’s a ‘working girl ‘ It’s the DNA !

  • We just rescued a red nose from a dog fighting ring out of Philly. He was too young to fight but has some broken teeth and a lot of anxiety. It’s been six months and he is on trazadone just so he can feel like a normal dog. Its very sad to see a dog so afraid. My question is: there are times when it seems he needs guidance from another dog, maybe an older female. In your experience could it be possible he could adjust to a companion.

  • I have been breeding Red Nose pits since 1987 in Vero Beach Florida not professionally but when we wanted a new batch of dogs. My dogs don’t have papers they are what WE call junkyard pits, we use to breed red and American for hog dogs the way I breed is no line breeding or inbreeding and my dogs have few if any health problems and live 13 to 15 yrs on average if not hunted with.I still have my stud he’s red with faint reddish brindle stripes barely visible until your up close to him 11 this year and just got a 4 yr old registered standard bully female to breed him with CANT WAIT FOR THIS BATCH!! They haven’t mated yet but her heat cycle is coming up my dogs go for 250 to 300 ALL DAY some 500 no papers just the puppy and parents sell themselves. I always have the parents on premise for buyers to see.

  • We have a beautiful golden colored.pit 57. The lady who rescued my puppie’s parents got a DNA test on her puppy, my dog’s brother. She’s not coyote like we thought but a wonderful specialty blend of staffy blue blood bull dog German shepherd collie and a bunch of other awesome domestic dogs. I’m so thankful for our princess psyco mutt. The litter are a bunch of super cute K-9 Einstein’s now almost 6mos. As our 2nd dog after raising a wonderful beagle I’m pleased she’s not coyote hoping for easier training results. Highly intelligent very well behaved and completely psychotic. Good puppy 🐕

  • I just got 2 red nose pups. They are white and red tho so idk if they are “real red nose or not” but mom looked just like the ones in the article but dad looked like my pups. I uploaded a couple short vids check it out and shoot me some feed back. They did not come with papers and owner could not tell me about blood lines. I just kinda wanna kno what I have.

  • I have a red nose pittie aquding to the breeder but we have only had him for 7 months so far and his name is thanos and his whole face turns bright red when he is excited and he is very affectionate he is white and tan red and is so strong. I have one question. Does the breeder need to give a pedigree or does the breeder not give a pedigree.

  • Off all the Pitbulls the red nose has a fiery temper and most dangerous if unsocialised well. This Pitbull type is responsible for many attacks on humans. If Yu direct his temper to hunting he can be the best there is.He can run fast he has stamina above all he can catch and destroy.I believe he is the best catch dog in grassland Africa.A red nose also has great ability in protecting crops from warthogs and baboons.

  • Truth. Finding the real history of this strain is difficult & shrouded in history & much BS. There is no doubt the progenitor of what became the OFRN came from Ireland (Red Irish Staffies), but there are many that say that they also have blood from Spanish war dogs that came with the Conquistadors along with the Pit Dogs that had been bred in the US prior to the Civil War. I had Staffies in NZ prior to moving to Hawaii & soon adopted a nice Red Pitty. I adopted another Togashi dog (Hawaiian Red Nose Pitty) that Iater found was heavy OFRN with Hemphill/Wilder & Lightner/Boudreaux blood. I have another Red now that I saved from the pound when I came back to NZ. Jim Corcoran was a prize fighter that came from Ireland to fight John L Sullivan & went on to become a Policeman in Boston. He brought a bunch of his dogs over from Ireland & some say that the Corcoran dogs were the progenitor of the OFRN in the US. I have not been able to find out any info about Jim Corcoran so if anybody knows the story, please let me know. True OFRN can be coloured from Straw to Chocolate, but have the red nose, lips, toenails, hazel/gold eyes & NO black markings anywhere. I have been told that if your Red Nose has black around the lips, it is not OFRN. I still have much to learn about this amazing strain…

  • My dog is a red and blue nose American Pitt bull his name is Odin I named him that because he is white and has red patches allover his body and a red patch over his eye he is such a beautiful dog he is very loyal and he loves kids and he loves toys I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect dog he is by best friend not just my dog

  • My girl Paula not a true one, she’s blonde but looks just like the one at 2:26 she is around 12 or 13, got her off the streets of South Dallas when I lived in TX for a year. Back up in NYC now, she adjusted well Noise freaked her out but I had a male brindle that was 5yrs older that chilled her out. He was a New Yorker

  • I have a Female .. named Cocoa, 6 months old…was the runt of the litter… Now she is 40 lbs. I feed Her Blue buffalo chicken n rice. She gets yogurt, Greenies and likes to try tastes of Mommy n Daddy’s table food. Very High energy Dog!! Has 1 white toenail and white on Her chest. She will never Have a litter 💯.

  • I believe I have a Red Nose,, Sheba has friendly characteristics, as described. She could never be a guard dog she is too friendly She understands what you say but still has to be threatened (never hit my dog). She is very smart. Trying to find a cheap trainer. I am 75 and I have always had Pitts. Sheba is 9 mos old and still jumps all over people. and drags me when walking. Any recommendations. CT. in the house.

  • Yup got a rednose pocket pitbull female and a rednose xl bully female, my pocket pitbull she is short and she has high energy and very strong and her game is strong, my redness bully female she’s big headed which scares most of my friends but she is a sweetheart when she wants to be and her game is super strong, I love them both

  • I have a sharpul sharpei/ pit bull and she looks nothing like a sharpei and I picked her out of the whole litter hoping she would look like both breeds because I thought out of all that she would but as she got older she just looks like a red nose and she’s not my first bully dog by the way I’ve had two blue nose’s and one American bulldog and she’s my latest and first well half red nose but yea her names Ceinwyn after the Welsh princess Ceinwyn from the warlord chronicles and she has red lips, red nails a red nose and blue eyes with a very light brown coat.

  • Apparently i didnt have a red nose then. Even though the moron said it was. It had a red nose and lips. But was mostly white coat with red spots. She was definitely a american pitbull terrier. But not a red nose. Her name was Jazzy. She lived 15 long great years. Would give anything to have her back. But i still her little sister. Shes another supposed red nose ( has actual red nose and mouth) But coat is mostly red with white spots. Shes a rescue A.P. T that was born with her front right paw flipped backwards. So she walks and runs on 3 legs. I took her from a friend that had puppies and couldnt sell her. Her name is lelo. Shes a special girl to. And them theres my new breed. A 5 month old Australian Cattle Dog

  • this is mine “abby” aka abigail she’s more of a buckskin with a black mask but she’s really a beautiful red color she’s a yr and 5 months iv had her since 14 weeks old my daughter keeps being asked to sell her when ever she takes her out for a walk and she always ses no it’s my mom’s baby! iv bred real apbt all my life! not that I have anything against american bullies just real red apbt is my cup of tea! I love ready red kennels apbt he’s really came a long way and establishing the real apbt blood line as well anyway awesome article take care and be safe! ✌️🥰

  • I had a 35 pound badass female red nose she was Bolio bloodline can’t find the breeder I got her from years ago. She has long passed and I haven’t found another one. She was gorgeous and full of game and extremely smart. I would really love make red nose now to go with this little cocky female blue nose I got. But I don’t know of anyone I can trust that has any Bolio bloodline. If anyone knows please reach out or comment back with me. Thanks

  • ACCORDING TO ALL YOU STATS, IT COULD BE THIS ONE (AVAH-SHEN) HAS SOME, SHE LOOKS A LITTLE LIKE THE ONE WITH THE PURPLE COLLAR ON THE article. HER NAILS ARE SUPER PINK, SNOUT REDISH, AROUND THE MOUTH AS WELL, HER EYES ARE AMBER.. OHMY, WHAT HAVE I GOT HERE, 😬; WELL THANK GOD SHE HAS BORDER COLLIE TO DULL OUT THE RED NOSE GENE.😉

  • I have a red nose puppies I got from a shelter. She is 5 months old. She is red with the gold red eyes. She is beautiful. Her and the litter she was from was surrendered to the shelter. They were sick and only my female named Dessa and her brother servived. She is doing great now was 40 lbs at 4 1/2 months. I got her for 100.00 dollars. There are so many beautiful pits in shelters in need of homes. I wish more would adopt from shelters and not so much breeding them. So many are euthanized because of their reputation. I have 3 pits now. Red nose, saffy,American bull and love them all.

  • I have a red nose bitch here in the UK, she is 2 and was rescued, so I I keep getting told she illegal here and I just don’t get it softest, best temper dog I’ve owned, only issue I have is walking her she pulls all the time practically choking herself any tips guys to help stop her doing this thanks

  • there is ONE distinct feature that you did not mention i will not say because ALL bulldog men know this also they have smallewr heads than a henry dogs but are more game than the henry dogs they don’t bite as hard as henrydogs my ofrn is of lightner blood ….. the good ones come of lightner, con feely and shiply blood THE RED NOSE IS NOT A COLOR. it is a bloodline ALL you guy with your colors THAT like i got a red car,i got a green car, i got a yellow car NOT i got a porsche, ford, chevy etc.

  • I have two blue nose pit bull pups and they are EVERYTHING you said in this article. Extremely smart, easy to train, great with kids, and slightly hyperactive. I never thought I’d be a pet owner as an adult, but my husband and stepdaughter convinced me to get one and I ended up loving him so much I went and got another! Love my Pit Bull pups 🥰🥰🥰

  • Recently rescued a 8 year old blue nose named Spartacus. He’s the sweetest dog I’ve ever had by far. Extremely loyal and protective Over my family. This gentleman is spot on with his facts. My pup has bad allergies and Dry skin. Thankfully I was able to get him on the proper meds. Thanks for the content very well put together!!

  • I was always a die hard German Shepherd guy and was dumb enough to believe that pits were aggressive dogs. Finally opened my mind and saw what kind of goof balls they are. I found my blue pitty at the pound and she fit right in to the family. Her and my youngest daughter are partners in crime and even to the point where my daughter uses her as a step stool to get what she wants in the pantry.

  • We lost our 7 year 11 month old blue nose pit-bull to cancer last year. He was by far the best dog we ever owned, and between my wife and I, we have had about 10 dogs. I should mention that our dog was modestly wide, not as wide as most pit-bulls, and he was also taller, and weighed in at about 85 lbs. His web feet possibly meant that he was not a purebred blue pit-bull, and he might have been part lab. He was so special to us, he loved children, he protected children, and he was always goofy loving. He constantly made us feel loved, and he also made us laugh. When we adopted him from the local SPCA, we expected to get a loyal dog, but he proved more than that. He was like a son to us, and his unconditional love and loyalty was touching. Now at 16 months since losing him, we still think about him every day. We loved our other dogs before him, but we can’t get over the loss of him. We thank God for giving us this beautiful dog to take care of for Him. We encourage everyone to adopt a pit-bull, especially a blue, and to experience the love they will have for you.

  • I have a blue nose pitbull named Catfish. She’ll be 9 yrs old this April. She’s been by my side at all times since she was 6 weeks old. She is so smart and so sweet. She loves kittens and little kids. I don’t know how I lived without her before I got her. I definitely don’t know how I’m gonna live without her when I lose her. She saved my life when I was unaware that I needed saving.

  • The one I have is my first blue nose everything this man say’s is true.glad to hear someone name the characteristics of these dogs. When I first got mine she was solid blue with a white stripe between her eyes as she got around a year old I noticed the blue on her sides started to turn to more of a brindle but her head was still solid blue with the blue nose and eyes.

  • Man in my eyes a blue nose pit can be one of the dopest companions to have they even look majestic at times, I remember I ended up taking care of a blue nose pup named Lola for my friend while they were redoing some stuff in his house and I would take her everywhere with me in fact she pulled me on my skateboard everywhere, a real skateboard without cruiser wheels and in the span of like 2 month she was yoked. Even my friend was surprised when I returned her. That bond I had with her was such a cherished time.

  • Who cares what color they are. Pitties are sweet, wonderful and the best dogs around that have been given a bad wrap. I had an elderly white red nosed pit (although she looked more like an AmStaff/Bully mix). She was the best dog even though we only had her for 3 years and 11 months. My husband found her. We think she was used by a backyard breeder and she many lacerations on her body as well. She was so affectionate, silly, intelligent and so very sweet. I miss her big beautiful soulful eyes and her big smile everyday.

  • I just got my blue nose we have so far for a week. Her traits and characteristics are from both line of genealogy of the bully and pitbull, I’ve also many years ago owned a American pitbull terrier and I have also owned a pitbull staff I have notice this the blue nose are more intelligent that than the rest, and what you stated was on point about their temperament. Even tho I do not have a pedigree because the backyard breeder doesn’t have either just put if experience I know what she is. Those clubs that reject pitbull bullys’ because of pedigree are shameful. They so in the club trying be half of 50¢ they can’t tell the difference so they ask for papers 🤦‍♂️ anyway I love my pitbull bully she11weeks she already sit, leaves it, watches, and comes as she shakes all around very very smart ty for these articles watched mostly all them lol

  • I got a pitbull amstaff mix. Very lean looking yet weighs 60lbs! Very Very high prey drive and dominant. Has been socialized enough to keep it more in check and has made friends with about 7 or 8 out of the 10 dogs he has met with personally. He is 3 now and I want to breed him with amastiff for more mass but mixed with his agility. Boerboel or cane Corso are my choices. Rottweiler and bullies are non mastiff choices as well but only the German Rottweiler. I recently met a guy with a bully which I think is an Xl. 5 months old and almost my dogs height! (My dog is 18 inches and 60lbs) I don’t like so much that their faces are a bitore squished like a bulldog when compared to my pit but I’m sure a mixture would solve that and not affect the pups as much or maybe not even a bit. My dogs DNA and health tests showed hime to be 53% APBT 22% American staffordshire terrier and the other was a mixture of a mutt (gsd/weimaraner) mini Doberman and poodle. Apparently so many pits have amstaff and poodle in em besides mine lol but those all made up less that 12% and some as little as 4.7%. Interesting stuff you learn man, oh his health was perfect so that’s why I only want to breed him, of it was bad then I wouldn’t have bothered

  • We just got a blue nose pup. The mom is a blue nose. Not certain what the father is. She had 14 pups for her first litter. The two blues didn’t make is. We picked a chocolate brown male. He has a white patch on his chest and the front of each paw is white. Looks like he’s wearing a brown fitted suit. His siblings are brown like him .. all black and they look like Rottweilers .. guess that was the neighbors dog.. the suspected father. I was just curious about him being chocolate and his mother being a beautiful blue and how that happens? . His name is Archie 11weeks now. His paws at 1 weeks are almost the size of our 3 year old masti bull.

  • I have two pitbulls they are both the best dogs I’ve ever owned I was admittedly nervous for getting one I’ve always had German shepherds and chihuahuas but my sister got one so I did and undeniably they are the absolute best dogs I’ve ever had even be out beating the German Shepherd in my opinion they’re both extremely loyal very intelligent my female knows hand signals my mail is very athletic

  • I have a female blue nose pit or staffy. She is more white than blue with blue nose and white and blue spotted coat with ticking in the white. She has a pattern of white and blue. She is allergic to chicken and sometimes skin issues. 9 months old today and 44 pounds she is on the small side short but muscular. Her mom was regular blue coated blue nose and her dad white with a blue nose.

  • There’s no such thing as bluenose putbull, it’s a gray dog with a gray nose. Most dogs with gray coats have gray noses as it’s a basically variation of very light black. Also, Mastiffs are not bull breed, they’re Molossers. Ancient Roman war breed type. Most blue pits I’ve met are much calmer than white or red ones. Including mine.

  • Thanks for this article man. My wife and I have a boxer thats 14 years old and she’s literally our child. Seriously, we love and care for her more than we ever would most of our own relatives. That being said, I’m gonna lose my shit for reals when the day comes that she has no more time left, and we both see her slowing down now. We’ve had discussion of what breed we gonna get after my boxer passes, and we both settled on a blue pit. I wasn’t really up on game about blue noses, red noses,or whatever. But now that I know, I definitely want a thicc assed big muscle blue, with docked ears, and clipped tail. My goodness they are just the most badass dogs ever. We have no children, not that that matters, as I’m a firm believer that as long as the pup has never seen any abuse, and is raised in an environment that shows only love, and direction, never any abuse at all, will raise up the pup with good temperament thats how we will raise our pit.. Lol, I don’t want him to be aggressive but at the same time, I want anyone who sees him to think twice before attacking me or my dog., if that ma,makes, sense. Lol!

  • Cons of Blu nose, mine is a baby that gotta be next to you or will wine and then a little ear itching from allergies but coconut whips helps that .. pros they great dogs that are great in house if you play with on regular and great with kids. We adopted ours and he came from the hood but only took a couple of days for him to realize he home

  • I don’t know. I have a dog that is considered blue. But not like dogs in thumbnail. I have papers, which I thought were hung,so I got DNA. 100% APBT 49 pounds, bat eared, and has a reddish undercoat. I think the most important thing is diet. It effects so many things. Dark meat chicken I think is key to keeping her coat shiny

  • I’m ol school, never heard of a Blue nose until like 2008, I’ve been around real APBT’s since the early 80’s. It’s always been tans with black masks, red noses with white patches or all reds, brindles, all blacks and fawns. These blues just popped up out of nowhere by some bad breeders. I’ve never seen blue pits at ADBA confirmation shows because the blue is not standard and the owners never show proof of their dogs pedigree

  • No… it’s an undesirable color. Just because a breed is CAPABLE of producing a certain color. Doesn’t make it a desired trait/color of the breed. There’s a reason why enthusiasts of the breed DON’T have or breed that color… but BYB’s do. Proper breed identification matters due to BSL. So mislabeling is detrimental to OTHER breeds that LOOK similar.

  • My full bred American Pit Bull Terrier just has a litter of 8 puppies. They’re now 2 weeks old and they all have a blackish blue nose, grey coat, and look very similar to every pit Bull puppy you showcased in this article. However I have no idea who the father of these puppies are. I need help if someone can help reply to this comment and I can send photos. I need to sell these puppies but I don’t want to accidentally lie to people or sell them for way underpriced. Blue nose pits are going for 1,000-3,000 a puppy and I need to know.

  • If you were a competitor back in the day and had your own yard, you would’ve bred whatever you wanted to into your dogs to create the ultimate champion, and there were no boundaries on what you combined your bloodline with. This is the reason there a so many bloodlines, and the dogs varied in size, weight, color, even physical structure in some cases. If your dogs reigned supreme, you would just have had a blue-nose apbt, or whatever you chose to name your bloodline, from your yard, and it would’ve gone down in history as such. The only reason the fighters were thinner and less muscular was because the breeders wanted the agility, stamina, quickness, and whatever trait the breeder wanted to develop in his dog during that time to give his dogs the edge. These are no different. They are true apbt just like the rest of the mix-bred clan that was used for the sport. So if someone would like to challenge those facts, I can attach links of old-school photos validating it. Some of them looked like hound dogs, and some appear to have a larger percentage of bull terrier than others. If this isn’t the case, then someone explain why we don’t have a vast variety of doberman, rotties, and so forth.

  • As u can see mine is a young pup her coat looks to be almost Seal color as it has a brick shade but the nose is undeniably not black I could not find anything on a Seal color coat n blue nose and vet considered her blue. In photos it’s very hard to get her true color and this will be her first spring coat as I am seeing more hair come off with each brush than before am anxious to see how the coat looks in summer

  • There is no “Blue American Pit” or “Blue Nose American Pit”. There is only the American Staffordshire Terrier or the Staffordshire Bull Terrier “The Real Blue Nose” The bull terriers are usually black but still give off an indigo glow in the reflection of light. APT’s are taller than AST’s and SBT’s with the SBT’s being the shortest out of the three. I was lucky to befriend an APT and a staff both are wonderful companions, I never say I owned one because you can not own a life but your own. But here is a link for anyone that is confused dogsnet.com/american-staffordshire-terrier-vs-pitbull/ Also, the AKC classifies APT’s and AST’s SBT’s all as separate breeds of the bull breed so it is incorrect to call an American Staffy an American Pitbull Terrier, just like a Bully is not a pitbull but comes from the lineage of the pitbull or better yet the staffies.

  • I have a blue nose mixed with brindle and they but she had a litter of a puppies that were blue and they were almost a light gray color and blue eyes the eyes may change but the blue tint is the most noticeable thing about a blue nose that when the Sun hits it just right it looks like a blue tint on there fur

  • Fact #1. There’s no such thing as a blue nose pitbull. Blue is a color not a bloodline. Blue was bred away from for two centuries because dogs with the coat would curr in fighting and hunting Because pit bulls were specifically bred for animal aggression and working purposes and ones who didn’t express that stamina drive and aggression were not reproduced. Blue color He is a trait of the American bully breed which is the majority of the dogs shown in this article tape pit bulls were not bread for their luxe. They were bred for the drive and aggression. American bullies were bred for their looks. The dogs y’all are confusing as pitbull’s are called American bullies in the reality is those of you who are spreading this information under the blanket term pitbull or the largest route. Overall the tap root of shelter populations and taboo within the community

  • I have an American pitbull terrier she’s all white with a black nose she weighs about 60 lbs today a mongoose strolled into our property and went to mess with her puppies she went off. She started throwing it up in the air catching it shaking it biting it throwing it up catching it again then my razor edge bully of 130lbs just opened his mouth and ate the MF 😂 i heard crunching and everything then they played tug of war with it. It was bad. But at least there won’t be anymore mongooses strolling in.

  • A true blue APBT is a rare dog and not typically considered desirable by breeders. There have been blue dogs in the pit. All one has to do is look thru the APBT registry to see plenty of blue dogs. It’s not even a disqualifier, in all honesty. Merle and albinism are, but not blue coat or nose. A blue nose IS a disqualifier for the Amstaff, tho. All that being said, tho, the blue dogs most people have come from irresponsible breeders who breed for color because they can con people into paying more. This has resulted in more unstable dogs that grab headlines. And, yes, the VAST majority of those dogs are American Bullies, not APBTs and certainly not Amstaffs. Pit bulls should never be bred so irresponsibly.

  • You sound like you know what you are talking about, but that’s only if you are not a APBT person through and through, but if you did know what you were talking about you would have many pics of Blue Dogs in those old pics, and there is a reason why you don’t. APBT do not come blue, merl, and over 70 lbs. The reason Pit is in their name is because of the Pit they are tested in, and matched in. If your dog’s family members do not consist of dogs that are and have been engaged in Pit activity, its not a Pit. Rather you like it or not Pit Bulls are Pit Dogs, Battle Dogs, Unrelenting, Tested And Proven, Above All Breeds Kings Of The Throne, Reigning And Defending. If any breed is mated outside of it’s breed to get a anti breed color, size, different temperament any thing that deviates from what all breeds are bound by Stander, Confirmation and Traits, its like a White person, that has a child from a Mexican, and they have a Mexican child together, impossible, but for some reason people think you can mate outside of American Pit Bull Terrier, and it still remains an American Pit Bull Terrier. The fact still remains, where are the old black and white pics of Blue Dogs. I know, Impossible.

  • Not going to lie articles like this and the comments below in my personal opinion ruin the American Pitbull terrier. The conversation about a blue nose pitbull and a red nose pitbull and the reality is people actually call their dogs that because of the color of their nose. This breed has owners that are so uninformed and it makes you not want to get one. I’ve seen people with American bulldogs saying that they’re pit bulls and really believed it. I saw one person that had an American Staffordshire terrier that said he had a pitbull, for the most part most people have mutts. 99.9% of the people saying they have a blue nose pitbull Don’t…. they have some type of a mutt mix… people don’t breed that type of dog the people who bred American pit Bull terriers back in the day were all into fighting dogs and they all came to the conclusion that a blue nose pit isn’t good for fighting so they stop breeding that dog. So stop saying there’s a such thing as a blue nose pitbull when likely today people who say they have them don’t have a pitbull they have some type of a mixed mutt dog.

  • Yeah I got a blue nose American pit bull terrier well it says it on her papers but she is actually a bully her parents are standard or the classic bully look. But she came from a good breeder papered everything blue ribbon dogs and my little bitch pup has skin allergies and ear infections and she is very skiddish and jumpy. Allergic to all kinds of dog food. But other than that she is an awesome dog the older she gets the more of the champagne color is coming through her sides and up and around her head and ears from the mixing of what her parents look like But still has the blue nose and mostly blue color like her father. But the mother was red and white. See alot of people don’t realize that ukc u can put whatever on there papers like my pups papers says American pit bull terrier even though she is a standard bully. But we love our dog regardless of her little problems we have over an acre now back in the woods of Florida all fenced off so she can be a pit and run jump chew dig and be a little badass if she wants

  • No. Originaly apbt were never blue. The blues color appeared at the same time that pitbull XL, xxl and even”xxxl apeared! Probebly because of crossbreed with mastino napoliano and/ or camera corso wich are often blue. The bluenose pitbull was probably called like that because of the populairity of the rednose wich used to be old irish family red, and therefor a way to sell more dogs. Bluenose pitbull is a name that didn’t excist 20 years ago. Now IT is not up to me to qualify but you could ask yourself. Is a bluenose a real apbt. To me…. Not really

  • APB T does not recognize them as a pitbull breed therefore they’re not a pit bull and as far as red nose pit bulls they are several different families they can throw dogs with red nose there is no such Thing as a red nose pit bull You have the old Irish red pit dogs you have red boy you have boleo several different bloodlines that have red nose dogs but there’s no such thing as a Red nose pit you might have a certain strain of dogs that have red noses

  • no such thing as blue nose at all also real american pitbulls dont have blue eyes only brown black or green.you can get what is considered as seal color which does come from a black dog, but nowhere near as blue as all the dogs shown in this article.. also no such thing as red nose. there is an old blood line known as old family red which produces dogs with red noses.
